Awesome tutorial, BN's! Where I live, there's a ton of birds on our lake, all kinds. What I learned most today was capturing that white glint in the eye. I have gotten many bird photos, but most of them lack the "glint." It's difficult to get it. Another thing I kind of disagree with. I really like the look of birds hiding behind their branches. That's where they live.. While the softer, no frill photo is pretty, I've got a few really wonderful photos of birds peeking out from their tree home. Thanks again!!!

It never fails to brighten my day when I see a video from yourselves. I think we work to much the same criteria for keepers, like yourself I like some environment around my birds but not to the point of being distracting. I can’t see the point of a wildlife image where the background is so much out of focus you’ve no idea if the bird is a woodland bird or a wader. I always crop before any other edits as you in effect magnify any edits with the crops, and it’s well worth learning to use refine edge for the feathers. Great video, I just love your enthusiasm for what you do.

Awesome video! Incredibly well balanced content: emphasis on the valuable part that others usually ignore (selection criteria and process), one practical and totally underrated technique (developing multiple pictures with different for different elements of the composition), skimming through the personal tastes (saturation, cropping) and almost none of the sickening dogma (rule of third :-)). Also, kudos for that shot. That oriole is a beauty... but I am sure that the two of you can even make an oak titmouse look majestic. Looking forward to seeing more of this. Wondering how it would look if Ashley was taking the lead. Thanks a a lot to both of you for your time and commitment.

Great vid! I think the part about getting the shot was great! I would have left off the editing part since you didn't have time to do a proper, complete edit. I'd save that part for a second video. People need to see both. Can't wait for the next one.

That’s definitely a great shot of the oriole. I have also found myself more picky with my shooting now, before I would always shoot eagles fishing no matter what way they were going and now I refuse to take butt shots. Always enjoy your stuff.
