Sunday Worship - 10/20/24

“Streams of Light–Let’s Shine Together!” We never cease to marvel at all the ways God sends streams of light, grace, and hope to strengthen us for the journey of life – and to shine that light through us for others. We pray you’ve felt the light of God’s love streaming upon you, in whatever way you have needed it most this past week!

This Sunday is very special, as we’ll be inspired by the amazing light that shines thru our Youth. For Youth Sunday, our youth will be leading worship with special music & sharing, including the message by Hunter Prest. If you’re out-of-town, don’t forget to worship via our livestream on YouTube or Facebook!

This morning, Saturday, we have our LS Mission Fund Cornhole Tournament at Random Tap, Elgin – sponsored by LS Lutheran Men. It’s for everyone of all ages & ability levels. You can show up starting at 10:00 – and the bags will fly at 11. This is a major effort to help raise our annual $3000 support for a mission congregation. Our Mission Fund was named in honor of Shannon Long, son of mission developers, Pastor Ed & Jewell Long. It’s a reminder of how a congregation in Iowa helped us nearly 36 years ago when we were a mission congregation just starting out – and our commitment to pass along that blessing by supporting a mission church each year. Spread the word to all your family, friends, and neighbors - for a wonderful time of fellowship & fun to further the mission of God’s kingdom!

We have at least 2 more weeks of our Football Devotion Meal Ministry. Consider helping or donating for one of the last 2 games!

Mark your calendars for Reformation Sunday on Oct. 27, from 4-6:30, with our big community Trunk ‘r Treat. Sign up at church to decorate your vehicle or donate candy. Lutheran Men will also have Reformation Bratwursts. Invite everyone you know!

This Sunday, we hear Jesus define true greatness in terms of servanthood. He reminds us that he himself, came to serve and not be served – and he tells us, “whoever wishes to be great among you must be your servant.” We rejoice in all the ways the people of LS live out that call in your servant spirit for others – we look forward to worshipping together this Sunday, as we support & celebrate the amazing servant hearts of our incredible Youth! Christ’s peace!
