With the pool of Japanese youth required ( by parents-taught in school)) to learn a musical instrument from a young age, it is not surprising that we are reaping the benefits of such great talent today in Japan. They are taught classical composition from an early age . The talent we see in Band Maid and other great Japanese groups composing music 'fusion' stems from expanding on the common ground ALL music has in classical composition. In Japan most have attended some sort of music school prior to becoming professional . These talented, aspiring young musicians are just taking it to an all new level . That has always been the fluid, ever changing beauty of music.

This was pretty much my reaction too! I came across the live performance of 'Puzzle' by accident, and I almost clicked off as I thought they were like a 'Baby Metal' or a pop girl band. Man am I glad I continued to watch the video! At first I was a bit confused by the outfits, but was blown away by the amazing music and talent.

Without vocals you can see just how good these women are. Miku was great, and to think she had to have Kanami teacher how to play!!!! She has worked her little maid butt off to keep up with the rest of that instrument section (bass, drums and guitar). I hear Misa is taking lessons to get is that possible???), and all the women work at their craft and it shows. Their is more energy and talent on that stage than anywhere else on YT as far as I am concerned. If I were one of those studio auto-tuned label acts I would shutter at the thought of having to either open or follow this band!!!! They continue to get better so I can't wait to see where they end up. I am telling you go watch/listen to some old Cream songs and these three (Misa, Kanami and Akane) will be just as good or dare I say better if possible than Bruce, Baker and Clapton!!! I love Cream and have all the vinyl albums from the 60's and I am telling you I haven't been this excited about a group since they broke up in 1968 and I am more excited than I was for Blind Faith (Baker, Clapton and Winwood) and they only last 1 album. These women are just that amazing and if they can stay together (which it looks like they will as they have no ego issues like the former bands I mentioned) they will really become another Super Group!!

Recently they play at the concerts another instrumental song - "Ochinken" or variations on a short musical theme, which Kanami wrote to a TV program a few months ago. Girls have long known what they can do. On the single "YOLO" (2016) there are two versions of this song, instrumental and with added vocals. BTW And that MISA` solo in "Onset" is simply perversely delicate and elegant :)

I'm typing this before I've watched it, but I'm betting you will love it! hehe *^^* That's a sweet little track to slip into the gig.. didn't know what to expect when I watched the DVD.. sooo glad I did.

I'm glad you liked it, and while Saiki is just about my favorite part of Band-Maid, their instrumental to cover her break during concerts is a pretty show of their skill. And Miku's rhythm guitar solo is cool because if you've followed BM for a while you've gotten to see her improve in her guitar skills and it gets a little spotlight here. If I had to make a suggestion it would be Puzzle, both live and acoustic, Choose Me, or Domination.
