Prenzlauer Berg - In A Berlin Minute (Week 162) [HD]

By now I cherish the entire neighborhood, but especially the area around our apartment. You can read more about my view of Prenzlauer Berg in the Berlin Portrait series on the überlin blog, which published a portrait of me and my thoughts about my Kiez.

Prenzlauer Berg has a lot more to offer than what I'm showing in this video. But you know, one minute is short. Here you'll see the water tower, the tree-lined streets, balconies on Oderberger Strasse, Gethsemanekirche, the book tree, Helmholtzplatz, the pirate ship, a dragon water pump, Kulturbrauerei (culture brewery), planetarium, Schwarz Sauer and Kastanienallee, Eberswalder Strasse subway station, Konnopke's Currywurst Imbiss (city's oldest currywurst stand), Pratergarten (Berlin's oldest beer garden), street art by El Bocho and by JR (Wrinkles Of The City), Pappelrocks and golden hour at Mauerpark.

Thank you, Mike. Yes, it's a lovely neighborhood. Fell in love at first sight, then played hard to get preferring other neighborhoods then it won me over totally. The shot of the dragon pump is for my husband. He really likes those pumps you can find all over Berlin. This one even still works!

Hey Jimmy,
You're so good at spotting your yellow trains. This is one of the few videos that shows both a yellow tram and a yellow subway. I thought you'd appreciate that. And I hope you know how much I appreciate reading that I made you smile. The dragon seems to be everyone's favorite, it's mine, too.

The dragon on the water pump (and the water pump itself) is a nod to my husband. When he was in Berlin he would create Foursquare locations for all the water pumps he came across. It was very endearing. So much for preserving privacy.

This was a working weekend for me. But I also got to see some friends. And the weather in Berlin finally turned beautiful. We've had a lovely week of summer. Got to shoot 2 videos even.

It's the greenery I love most about the neighborhood. The building that looks like a golf ball is the planetarium. Now you know what it looks like where I live. However I didn't show my house - just the view from my balcony. Some privacy should remain ;-)

Vielen Dank, Chris. Ich glaube, ich werde diesmal wirklich mal wieder eine laengere, langsamere Version machen - etwas entspannter. Uebrigens habe ich bei der Frisbee Aufnahme an Dich gedacht und das erste Video, das ich von Dir gesehen habe. Da haben Leute vor dem Reichstag Frisbee gespielt.
