Concert for Bangladesh - George Harrison Album Reviews

Watch the unedited version on my Patreon Page:
In 1971 George Harrison, Ravi Shankar and friends selflessly gave their time to perform a benefit concert to aid victims of the Bangladesh Liberation War. This lineup included Eric Clapton, Billy Preston, Ringo Starr, Jim Keltner, Leon Russell, Badfinger, even Bob Dylan. It's a classic concert done for the most noble of causes. I can't necessarily include it in the main lineup of George's solo albums as it's a multi-artist live album, but it's still well worth checking out.

"Thank you, if you appreciate the tuning so much, I hope you will enjoy the playing more". Best intro speech for a song ever

Something that I've found a bit of a let down about other benefit gigs is that each artist just comes on and does their thing. With Bangladesh, they're all on stage together. That just seems really special to me and I'd like to see other benefit shows taking that format.

I really like the live version of Wah Wah. I actually like it a bit better than the original, I think. There's something about the energy behind the live version. I always get pumped up when I hear it.
Great review! Thank you!!

Thank you for keeping his music alive although he has now been dead for 20 years.

Love this record! My grandfather was from South Asia and the people there still struggle to this day, which is a shame because we wouldn't have psychedlic music without the region.

It's so crazy how Billy is literally the personification of joy.

Ohh - I so agree with you. Such an inspiring album for the present climate (carnonora induced). I think the best “live” George material. A must for most George Harrison fans. His music may have been criticised over the years (I take out All Things Must Pass - because at the time, everyone loved him) but it was George at his best live ( maybe the London concert in 1999 !! may have best it).

I always thought the world media and press at the time never really understood what was going on with this great charity concert so they never really got onboard with it, some were even quite critical of it. Maybe the fact that it was quite rushed at the time didn’t help and it was the first time anything on this scale had been attempted. Today if you do a great charity event it’s an automatic knighthood?
