Niles GASLIGHTS MATILDA SO BAD That Show Producers STEP IN!

After embarrassing Matilda by calling off the wedding, Niles now resorts to gaslighting her! He claims that Matilda knew all along that he never intended to wed her on this trip. Which is such a crazy lie that both Matilda AND the show producers have to call him out for it! And while Niles eventually apologizes (blaming his autism for his actions) - and while Matilda forgives him - he's unable to give her the concrete timeline she craves for when their wedding might be. But something tells me her family might not be as okay with this as she is...

I don’t think a producer has ever done that before. Very shocking but refreshing that she stood up for Matilda and called out Niles on his lies. Will this be a new thing for a Producer to get involved or only for Niles because of his issue? I thought it was awesome.

I love this channel, legit saw people defending Niles and blaming his autism. I'm not saying he's a bad guy, but he absolutely was playing games, gaslighting and manipulating. Buying her new clothes and an engagement ring to soften the blow was all because he knew he had not told her the truth! Anyway I like Matilda and even Niles, this isn't something they can't get over and I do hope they work out.

My son is high functioning autistic. If anything, his autism gives him no filters and he blurts out everything that comes into his head. He’s pretty truthful to the extreme 😅

I'm a psych major about to be in my senior year and my son has very mild autism. One of the perks of autism is that they're usually very blunt, honest, and up front. My son can't even comprehend peer pressure, he doesn't understand why anyone would do something they don't want to do just because others are doing it or to impress someone, so this doesn't really fly. They may struggle with expressing how they feel, they may shut down if they get overwhelmed, but lying is not a characteristic of autism. This is a character flaw in Niles, a flaw many people have, but the fact he's trying to excuse it by using his disorder as an excuse is really not a good sign. He lied to her every phone conversation, every time the wedding was brought up, he kept up this lie for months, this isn't "oh I forgot to tell you" this was a planned lie and manipulation.

Hey, fellow autistic here! To answer your question: no, I don't think the knowing or not if we lied it's an autistic thing. Idk if he's telling the truth about actually not knowing it, but it's not something every autistic person struggles with
But I do think avoiding conflict at all costs might be and the lying is tied to that
My answer is based on experience and what I heard from other autistic people, I don't have the cientific knowledge on that!!!

Generally, women that are outspoken and stick up for themselves are labeled as angry or difficult because we're not allowing others to run all over us like a door mat. Matilda is my favorite cast so far in years. And honestly, if Niles is already lying through his teeth, I could give 2 Fs about his diagnosis.That's a giant red flag to me that this man like is never going to be direct.
