The Problem With The Multiplication Sign

In this video I talk about why "x" for the multiplication sign needs to be changed. It is the easiest way that students get tripped up when learning algebra.

Usualy you omit the multiplication operator when ever possible. You have f.ex. AB=BA for commutative operators on vector spaces.

A dot is better than an x, but in some cases if you're not placing the dot carefully it COULD still be viewed as a decimal point.

Asterisks work great in text but are kind of a pain to draw out in comparison to other symbols.

There's always just things next to each other in parentheses, but it's good to be able to relate that back to a different symbol so that people can better understand it and can better see how order of operations works on those social media problems like 6/3(2). (Fill in the * and then look at 6/3*2 with order of operations.)
