Usualy you omit the multiplication operator when ever possible. You have f.ex. AB=BA for commutative operators on vector spaces.

A dot is better than an x, but in some cases if you're not placing the dot carefully it COULD still be viewed as a decimal point.

Asterisks work great in text but are kind of a pain to draw out in comparison to other symbols.

There's always just things next to each other in parentheses, but it's good to be able to relate that back to a different symbol so that people can better understand it and can better see how order of operations works on those social media problems like 6/3(2). (Fill in the * and then look at 6/3*2 with order of operations.)
