Forrest Fenn Treasure Hunt -- Details and pics related to his rescue.

Forrest Fenn was shot down in Laos on 12/20/1968 and rescued the following day and taken to NKP. He tells the story in "My War For Me" article and also in The Thrill of the Chase book. In the book he shows a picture of the man (Robert J. Sully) who pulled him into the chopper, but in the picture you cannot see his face. I spoke with a veteran from the USAF who was on the same team that rescued pilots from Laos, and he provided me with pictures (not the one you might have seen) and more detail about the missions.

I discuss all that in this video, and I show the pictures. I have more than this and will show it next time.

Just wrapped up a 2+ hour long interview with the Pararescueman I discuss in this video. I am working on creating a video of today's interview, and hope to upload it tomorrow or Friday (I am waiting on some pictures from the man I interviewed). If you are interested in how the PJ's worked, the Jolly Green Giants, and why Forrest Fenn appreciated those men in "My War For Me", you want to watch the video. The man has done some very interesting things, and there is an ODD TWIST to this story that I (we) can only attribute to an upper hand, or fate. You will be surprised at the twist!

UPDATE: He called me today and agreed to do a Zoom with me so that he can elaborate on what he told me, show more pictures (including of Sully), and wait until you hear his story (unrelated to Forrest). This man is one of the unsung heroes in my book!

Great insight Troy. I do have a question though, remember the interview of Richard M Hall where he says he’s pictured with Forrest and mentions the others. The thing is it’s the same picture as you’re showing that’s in TTOTC and Richard Hall isn’t mentioned. Just curious as what you think the inconsistency could be. He says he’s pictured, maybe he was there but just didn’t make it in that picture. Or maybe there are other pictures????

Have a great weekend.

Great find! So, I know we didn’t agree on this before, but if Candy Ann was made up, then there is a possibility that it is referring to Candy Ann “Brown” as a hint. That could mean that the home of Brown is also referring to the home of Quartermaster Brown, which is what this rescue squadron was— Quartermasters. They are also responsible for the “sustenance” of the other troops. Aka, living quarters, food, rescue, burial, etc. Now, if this was a hint and was later to be converted into to a GPS coordinate, then “Below” the home of brown would IMO refer to the next page on the back of this picture. So, key words like “in” and “below” have important meanings in an almost programmatic speak. Let’s for example say that every sentence with the word “in” is a negative GPS coordinate. Now the “comma” or punctuation does not matter as much. But the “in” does matter. Now, if there is a way to solve the poem using one method, which is more lexical in describing a path or map, then can be verified by a Ordinal set of page numbers matching meanings in TTOTC, you would known for certain if you right or wrong about the solution. A method to confirm the solve, built into the poem and book. Thoughts?

Excellent video Troy. I'm not sure on the name "Candy Ann" other than its in the photos. Even in Jungle Wisdom in TFTW. And mentioned again in a poem in OUAW. Chris LaFrieda did an Amazing interview on one of the tubers channels. It escapes me, which one. I think it was either Toby or Cows. Either way it was a good interview. I don't recall if LaFrieda was ever able to visit the site, but his team was able to confirm the location by the tires. And brought out a chunk of aluminum from the plane sight, which he sent to Forrest. Ah, I almost forgot. Forrest's rescue was a worthy photo opportunity, due to him being the 1500th pilot rescued. Maybe why the photo with all the Officers. Troy, I think it will be cool to see you go Live with the person you're in contact with.

I just learned something else, and I am near certain that it defines/decoded, the name of the book, “The Thrill of the Chase.” It also defines “where warm waters halt.” I am so confident of this that I think it could be used as a litness test to see if the solver really solved it. And better yet, it defines both “Ab-sa-ra-ka” and “Wyoming!!!

The crash site is only about 1, 700 feet from where Forrest was extracted. That is kind of close. The parts search report states that Forrest ejected 3 miles from the crash site but does not state how that distance was determined.
