This part always gave me the creeps as a kid. That siren blew exactly ten seconds, and then the tornado was on them. More real than y'all might think.

When even Dusty is full on panicking, you *KNOW* it's serious.

People laughed at Bill's new girl for freaking out in this scene, but as a grown man who has actually been IN a tornado, that shit is fucking terrifying.

I think that the twister detroying the screen while Jack is axing down the door is pretty epic

One of Bill Paxton's most famous quotes. "It's already here. Everybody underground now!"

3:50 you can hear Melissa losing her shit.
"This is insane! This is insane! This is driving me crazy I don't wanna do this anymore!"
The moment Melissa finally snapped and realized that her relationship with Bill is just not going to work out. You even see Jo's face realizing what she is saying, but Bill is oblivious to what she actually meant.

Looking back at this scene, I finally understand why Jo was just standing there.
Seeing the tornado that big at night reminded her of the night her father was killed by an F5.

I think night tornadoes are the most terrifying

When I was a kid, I got this movie at a garage sale on VHS for $1. Worth every penny.

I think this scene also intentionally shows how difficult it is to see a tornado at night. And the dangers of it. I feel the f4 was already there approaching and you only see Bill’s, Jo’s, and Melissa’s scared reaction only when the lighting flashes which lights up the part of the sky the twister is at, which gives them a full view of it. Its like they are looking into darkness trying to see whats coming but cant see it until the lightning strikes.

Dusty most underrated character
You know it's gonna be hell broken loose especially when the comic relief shows a serious crisis warning.

RIP to Bill Paxton He was such a good actor and did some great movies and this was one of his best movies along with Titanic, True Lies, Commando Aliens, Terminator.... I miss him.

I like how the tornadoes get more powerful as the film goes on, like Paxton is fighting bosses until the F5 at the end

A lot of people have talked about the part where the screen starts getting torn away while Jack axes the door, but I don't see anyone talking about the part at 2:27 which I think is just as good. It's just so ominous that the last part you see is Jack's face when he looks through the door before the screen is completely swept away

Fun fact: the drive-in used for this scene is a real one, it is located in Guthrie, Oklahoma.
This is actually the case for most of the buildings featured in the film as the scenes were shot on location: for example, the farm seen in the first chase was in Fairfax, OK, the Wakita, OK scenes were filmed in the real town, and the big house seen escaping destruction in the F5 scene is actually Follet Mansion in Eldora, Iowa, which was built in 1886 and is now nicknamed Twister House.
Ironically, the Fairfax farm was hit by tornadoes for real in 2010, with the property suffering severe damage. A horse was killed, but all human occupants walked away uninjured...

"It's already here." You can hear the fear in his voice. Like "oh shit, we're in trouble."

1:09 When I was a kid, I always had this crazy and scary thought that tornadoes had a mind of their own. Like they were alive and just craved destruction wherever it went. Just this scene alone gave me that vibe. Just a very eerie feeling about it

The nostalgia just instills the hype. This is the only scene that sends chills in my spine because you have no idea what's in the darkness until you see some lightning flashing to get a better view of a monster tornado lurking in the shadows at night.

This actually happened here in PA in 1985. F4 came and tore up the local drive-in movie theater. Luckily no one was killed.
