Time Out Market Lisbon = Fancy Food Court + Farmer's Market Fun

Today we take you a bit more in depth on the Time Out Market in Lisbon. This huge market is open 7 days a week. Want to stuff your face with "the best" meats and sweets from across the city? Time Out Market has done the work for you, with curated restaurants from around Lisbon that have been invited to open a location in the food hall. Or would you rather shop the farmer's market and bring home your own bacon? Time Out Market has you covered again - the other half of the market is a dedicated fruit/veggie/meat/fish market with everything you could want to make your own feast at home. While it is guaranteed to be crowded at almost any time of day, it's with good reason. If you're looking for good food under one roof - this is the place to be.

ABOUT OUR VLOG
We’re a small family embarking on a big journey - leaving behind life-as-we-know-it in California and searching for new daily adventures in Portugal and beyond. We’re diving outside our comfort and time zone and immersing ourselves in a new culture, traditions, cuisine, and (of course) playgrounds. We don’t promise to be perfect! But we do promise to meet interesting people, explore new cities, give a few tips, make lots of mistakes, and have fun along the way… And hopefully inspire you to embark on your own adventures both near and far. Every day is an adventure!

That is one SMART kid! Jordan speaks perfect Portuguese and yes, the black scabbardfish does live in the depths of the ocean, where there is no light.

as a Portuguese born and raised in Portugal and now in Canada i sooo miss the markets and chiados, the food is always awesome !! oh my the bifanas :P but yes the time out market is a tourist trap so those prices are expected . look into visiting some more tascas and smaller restaurants . the food will make you drool and your wallet will thank you

I think you have a lovely family and really am glad that you are exposing your little boy to a different culture. Not every child will eat octopus... so bravo on that!!

The price you paid at the market you would get a very nice dinner out with appetizers, wine and dessert included. Lisbon has been paying the price because of tourism and seeing those price for an ordinary meal hurts as a portuguese. After this lockdown you should visit the inner country. That's where you will find the "gold". Hope your family have a very positive experience in Portugal

For your kid try PORTUGAL DOS PEQUENINOS in Coimbra. That’s a kid friendly smaller version of the best tourist attractions in Portugal that he can explore. It’s a must for every Portuguese... we all went there as kids.
Near Lisbon you have KIDZANIA, where he can explore future professions ...

For kids try the Lisbon zoo and the Oceanario at Parque das nações

My tips: octopus hot dog (Sea Me), codfish Brás style (Miguel Castro e Silva) and for dessert, the amazing Abbot of Priscos pudding.

There aren't many channels on living in Portugal. I enjoy the other ones, but yours seem to be a bit more down to earth, which I'm enjoying. And you may be the first omnivore channel, lol. Jealous that you have a child that will eat what you cook! I just found your vids today, will check some of the others out. I missed the reason for moving somewhere. Just curious. But it's the first question everyone asks. (you've probably answered in a video, or in the comments). Keep up the good work. Stay safe.

really enjoy your videos. Been following you guys... Your videos are informative. I wonder if you have any advice on the school system or education in Portuguese for young kids of an immigrant family whose native tongue is not European Portuguese. Is English widely spoken in Portugal? Is it taught or even used as a medium of instruction for some subjects at primary schools in Portugal?

Evite comer nesses lugares para turistas. Procure is sítios frequentados pelos portugueses. Verá que fica a ganhar em qualidade e a sua carteira agradece. Para comer uma boa bifana, experimente a tasca em frente à Estação do Rossio ( a entrada principal). Come uma verdadeira bifana portuguesa.

Love the video, just one thing I thought you should know, when you dont speak Portuguese (native speaker) you shouldn't teach (atleast the pronunciation) since kids are like sponges and when you say "Por favor" he picks up your accent (which in this case sounds like spanish), not a good idea (in my opinion)...
