Polycarbonate is a much better grade of plastic. I always thought Samsung phones from a few years ago were cheap plastic. Nokia Lumia phones used polycarbonate and they were quality handsets.

No problem with most of your first impressions, BUT... how do you repeatedly say you will compare with "other budget phones", referring to the Iphone Xr & Samsung10e? This phone is $400! The others are anywhere from 60% to 80% more expensive!!

The S10e and the Xr are not budget phones. They cost $750. Whereas the Pixel 3a cost 400. Practically half the price. That's a budget. When the iPhone 4's and 5's, 6's and 7's came out at 600, $700, were those budgets? We need to stop calling $700 and $800 phones budget priced. 500 and less are budget. Comparing this phone to those other 2 is doing a disservice to Google and the work they put in to get it at 400.
