The Henrico County Division of Fire got a jump on its fundraising for the Henrico Christmas Mother by hosting the inaugural Dunk-a-Chief event July 24 outside the Public Safety Building on East Parham Road.
Chief Jackson Baynard and others from the division's executive leadership team took turns as the hapless victim in a dunk tank. County staff and members of the Board of Supervisors paid $5 for one toss or $20 for five tosses in hopes of sending them for an icy dip.
The event raised nearly $1,400 for the Henrico Christmas Mother, a nonprofit organization that provides gifts, food and clothing to local individuals and families during the winter holidays.
