What are Assignment Problems | How to Solve Minimization Assignment Problems

What are assignment problems? Assignment problems are linear programming problems that are primarily concerned with determining optimal assignment or allocation of resources. In this video, I am going to show you how to solve minimization assignment problems. This lesson is covered in the course Math in the Modern World.

We will be solving the following problems:

The F-Shop has just received three new rush projects to repair:
(1) a radio, (2) a coffee maker, and (3) a toaster oven. Three repair persons, each with different talents and abilities, are available to do the jobs. The owner of the shop estimates what it will cost in wages to assign each of the workers to each of the three projects. The costs which are shown in the given table differ because the owner believes that each worker will differ in speed and skill on these quite varied jobs.
