"ash trained his own mons"

While it is true that EV and IV training is tedious, it was the world championships. It wouldn’t feel right if the world champion didn’t do a lick of work to get his mons while other players could’ve spent weeks

I think it's fair that he got kicked out. He broke the rules. But I also think it would be fair to allow people to do this in the future.

I thinks it’s worth noting it’s not just about EVs and IVs/getting a good nature. Some people hacked in things like Landorus which you need a past game to get legitimately. A mon impossible to get in ScaVio as of right now. Some got DQed for getting traded a Pokémon that was hacked too, something they couldn’t of known about until it was too late.

Just noticed, out of the three examples of peoplewho “supported” him only one was actually on his side, the other two just said that they don’t care if people cheat or not but also told him to accept that he was caught and quit being a sore loser . 👏

imagine if chess gms had to plant trees,
cut them down, and carve their pieces out of wood to compete. only bad players are against genning

A lot of people here have no idea what they are talking about. Are you aware that if you want a 0IV Enamorous without genning you have to play the whole Legends Arceus game every time you camputure it because you get to know Enamorous' IVs only after you trade it and, before trading, the game saves automatically?

Man society is so divided now.

Both sides do have valid points that are true. Try to remember though it is time consuming to capture, breed, and ev train your pokemon to be battle ready. So to the person that sacrifices and puts the time to do that gives genners an unfair advantage. Let's not act like the top players don't gen too.

I see both sides of this equation. On the one hand, the pain of training creates a completely unnecessary barrier to competitive Pokemon. On the other hand, genning is not available to most folks and presents an unfair advantage against those who build their team legitimately.

Disqualifying this dude in round 6 was to send a message and make an example. He must’ve spent thousands of dollars to make it to worlds and was on a strong streak of four wins. Taking him out when victory was so close is the ultimate power move.

As someone who competed here, it does need to be known how difficult it was to get legendary pokemon such as landorus or cresselia propperly. HOME formats such as regulation D forcing you to get older games in order to even have a chance at competing is just unfair

I don't gen since I'm lucky enough to own older games but I definitely don't fault the other players in Yokohama whatsoever.

But to be fair in the future. pokemon should just provide the people the exact team they want to use in these tournaments

I swear it would be much better if it was just like showdown 😔

I get the argument about if genning should be allowed for official tournaments (I lean toward no but I def understand the counter argument)

Regardless, you had PLENTY of time to account for the fact that this specific tourney, per usual, didn’t allowed genned mons. We can debate the principle all we want but it doesn’t make this any less stupid

Pokemon is about catching and training your pokemon. It must not allow hacking because if it did, the people with the most money and support could just hire or buy pokemon while people grind hours with very little time or resources.

Dude has a point about people cheating in the game. It’s like wrestling but only YOU can’t use steroids.

I fully do not give a shit if people use hacked pokemon in events 🤷🏻‍♂️
I was a genner in the ORAS days, and it paid for my first year of college ngl.
But now that im in my mid 20s, I have a full time job, a second part time job, and bills to pay. I dont have 15 hours to breed and train a team to play at an event. Its already impossible enough to get the time off work in the first place. So i take my adult money, and buy my teams, so that i can still play 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️
I also accept that if i got caught, im not gonna fuckin cry about it. Thats on me lol

Whaddya gonna do? Sue me?

I don't like gening for IV's Ev's.
But at someone who didn't play between X and now I don't have access to most of the current meta pokemon unless I invest money in older games

I feel that if you don't like the grind you don't have to play competitively, it's a privilege to teavel to compete
