Ingredients:
7 pineapple slices in syrup
1 and 1/2 tbsp of butter (20g)
1 tbsp of sugar (15g)
1 egg
1/4 cup of sugar (50g)
a pinch of salt
1 tsp of liquid vanilla
1/4 cup of vegetable oil (50ml)
1/2 cup of milk (100ml)
1 and 1/4 cup of all purpose flour (150g)
8 g of baking powder
some candied cherries (optional)

Yes I make this pineapple upside down cake but in the oven. No need to caramelize the butter and sugar first. This stage all happens together with the batter in the oven. Very simple. Yum!

How can you say that it’s ready in five minutes? When you have to cook it on slow heat for longer than that and then turn it over and cook it again? you should not try and capture an audience by a title that is untrue.

My mom made it in a cast iron frying pan in the oven. She added pecan halves between each pineapple slice. She simply used a yellow box of cake mixed prepared as directed. Her bottom layer was butter and brown sugar. YUM makes me miss her so much. She passed on 2/2/22

Exquisite! I use brown sugar and captain Morgan's Spiced Rum. I also prepare Heavy whipping cream for the topping. And, yes, I make it in a cast iron skillet on the stove top. I have also used crushed pineapple as well.

Absolutely fantastic, worked so well and very much easier than making the normal oven version. Thankyou for simplyfying this upside down treat, I was fascinated to cook it in a pan on the hob, had my doubts, which were totally unfounded, it worked perfectly.

For those who were wondering the 8g of baking powder that wasn't posted in English, it's 1/2 Tbs found the same measurement in another recipe.

Fantastic recipe!! I love pineapple and I think I will add a bit of shredded coconut as well, just because I like the two tastes together but will add it to the batter. I am curious if this could be made while camping as it would be an excellent treat.

I love recipes that don't use the oven, which is a waste of gas/electricity. Heating up a large area to cook one little item plus the preheating. With the price of energy these days it's a good idea to source more economical recipes. I'm going to make this cake with my preserved fruits. I have apples, pears, apricots, peaches and plums. Lots of variety. I have two frying pans the same size, so when one side is cooked I can flip it over straight into the other one, saving the trouble of flipping it onto a plate then back in the pan.Thanks for the great idea😍😍😍😍

I'd have used the pineapple juice leftovers instead of that milk to enhance that pineapple-y flavor. Awesome recipe!
