As a candle maker, and wax melt maker, I would never recommend using essential oils in candles. It can be a fire hazard. Some makers do, but I’m assuming they’ve done their testing, and their percentages, and temperatures are good. I only use fragrance oils made for candle making. It’s not an easy process, and I don’t want to discourage anyone from doing a DIY, but it can be, and is a safety issue. Making candles isn’t as simple as melting some wax, adding fragrance, and grabbing a wick. There’s so much more to it than that, and we are playing with fire, at the end of the day. So many variables to consider…the type of wax, the vessel, the fragrance oil, the percentage of the fragrance oil, at what temperature to add that fragrance oil, stirring enough to bind the two, and what temperature to pour. There are so many wicks out there, and typically takes testing a ton of them to find the right one to go with not just the type of wax, but the size of the vessel, and diameter of the jar. I’ve never re-used a wick before, and I’m assuming it would be okay, but it depends on what you’re pouring it into. It’s truly a science. Be safe!

I like to visit the lands of winter and snow, but give me my native Florida any day!

I agree. When CS Lewis described a bleak time as "always winter but never Christmas, " it really resonated with me.

I have always loved winter, especially when it snowed. I lived in Maryland as a child (and well into adulthood) and loved sledding in the snow and ice skating at the nearby ice rink. Now I'm in North Carolina and don't get snow as often, but I have always loved the simple beauty and quietness of the snow. Both in Maryland and here in NC, living in the very rear of the neighborhood, with little traffic, the whiteness and beauty of the snow remains longer. I also have a wooded area behind my house, so the beauty isn't spoiled. It's so peaceful and quiet when it snows, making it even more enjoyable. ☃️🧣🧤⛸️🐧❄️

Hi Shannon,
It is Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023 and i just worked 9 hours today at my job. I am so tired and i am just kicking back catching up on videos I have recd alerts gor this week. Even though this is from last year i love Christmas DIYs.. Last Christmas was the first Christmas I had not been in my Mom's house for 31 years and I was so sad I had a table top tree and a few decorations but did not go overboard as years past. I like overboard. 😅

My Mom's favorite word was JOY. For her it stood for Jesus Others Yourself and thats how she lead her life too. Thru tge years us kids gave her so many JOY items she finally said no more! When she passed away we all took our joy items back. My little place is so very tiny but I think this year it eill literally be filled with lots of JOY in every corner and I very much want to make your red JOY candles. I have a very large serving window with a wide window sill and I will put tte candles in tge middle but, Shannon, I am going to put the JOY letters on both sides so you see it in tge living room and also one side in the kitchen. I have large gold glittery letters on hand. Ihave an idea too for the Mason jar Christmas tree cut out. If i succeed at these crafts i will give you a shout out on instagram.

I am offto bed. I have church early tomorrow.

Blessings and Joy,
Rebekah

We live in the midwest also. I loved winter as a child. We would play outside all day, only coming in the house to get dry gloves. Now, I love Christmas and the month leading up to it, but not winter. Shannon, you have the absolute best craft and Christmas channels. Love them both! Your creativity amazes me.

Live in Colorado. Love winter now that I don’t have to drive to work in bad weather. However, your winters are harder than ours!❤
