I recommend "Thy Light" as a good DSBM. It's a one-man brazilian band and their album "Suici-de-pression" is fucking nuts.

Its actually pretty chill. Shining and psychonaut 4 are amazing. Xasthur and Leviathan are amazing. Thy light is amazing. Its very comforting sometimes. However, lots and lots of dsbm bands are just people using their computers and phones to try and mimic the stule, using the "ds" part as a gimmick, making it corny and boring. Just like you said. However, the shrieks are usually very good and apply to the emotional impact. And the repetitiveness reflects the endless cycle of depression, and helps with the atmosphere.

Luror is a really amazing German Black Metal/DSBM band, I’ve been listening to them for years now, they only have two albums but Iron Hand at the Blackest Terror is genuinely an amazing fucking album. In a Room in Hell really encapsulates the poetic side of Black Metal, it’s a really beautiful song. I highly recommend checking them out.

I’d recommend Decalius and A Useless Life, although I’m a huge metalhead, and DSBM music is typically a little bit too dreary, I absolutely adore these two bands.
