I’d be all over that Canon lens! As someone that shoots his kids sports and make a bit of money on the side, spending $10k+ is not in the cards. My kids play soccer competitively, so I need decent speed, this would be a good compromise!

If this 300-600mm f5.6 is released, I'd probably buy it as soon as I could.

I still want that 200-500mm f/4! Canon needs to step up!

The 100-500 f7.1 hasnt been a problem for me so this one would definitly be worth a look. I more often want more reach rather than light but Im not sure I would take it over a 200-500 f4. Large glass does have that magic lol

The background GTA V music is nice with this one.

A party with a bunch of long thick lenses sounds like fun!

Is the Canon lens rumor true? Well . . . you got it from Canon Rumors, so . . . no. It's not true. CR hasn't got anything right since the big blowup a few years back. Sometimes, a website jumps the shark. They start making stuff up in a desperate hope for more clicks. Canon Rumors has become Sony Alpha Rumors for Canon.

On the Canon 300-600 5.6 rumour: I find a 5.6 lens is simply too slow for most sports where you need a long lens and a zoom offers an advantage over a prime (e.g., tennis, soccer, swimming, athletics, cross-country, alpine ski, ...). I would really love to see an RF 200-500/4.0 or an RF 300-600/4.0 (ideally with build-in 1.4 TC) as a replacement/upgrade for the EF 200-400/4.0 with 1.4 TC. A price around $10'000+ would be fine by me for such a lens.

300-600 f5.6 with built in 1.4 is what we want 👍👍

With that hat on you remind me of Clarabell, for anyone old enough to remember him. LOL

An RF 300-600mm f4-5.6 L IS USM would make it an instant buy for me. Just not sure how I feel about 300-400 being 5.6.

Still considering to keep my old dusty EF500mm f4L IS. If there is anything I would give my old white long lens for, is the EF200-400 F4L with 1, 4 extender built in. My EF100-400 mkII deliver still gorgeous on both R6 and R7 still so I'm waiting... in the meantime I will use my old EF Glasses with a big pleasure.
However Sigma should have recieve the allowance for RF mount, then I would going for that 300-600 F4 lens right on the next day. 😄

I'm thinking that I will get the 2x teleconverter and put it on my 100-300mm F2.8.

I think the 300-600 f5.6L (if it comes to be) will be a similar size, weight and price to the 100-300 f2.8L. Hopefully a little less because of the 2x zoom instead of 3x. But to use Sigma’s price for the f4 version as a baseline, and then reduce that price because of the aperture, is to ignore the simple fact that Canon just charges way more than Sigma.

For me, yes, though my rf100-500 f7.1 has been great. 🤔

You know who has big thick light weight lenses? NIKON!

That canon lens looks nice. Probably similar size and price to the Sony 400-800. Premium wildlife zoom.

If, and that is a big if Canon produces and releases a 300-600 f/5.6 which is affordable (<$5k), lightweight (<2.5kg), and sharp I may just return to the fold (from the dark side).
