The Pointe Shop made a video about pointe shoe hacks recently, and the comments section was filled with dancers from the '70s and 80s talking about how they used sprayable shellac, and how it was more comfortable and less toxic than jet glue. Maybe you could give it a try sometime?

so is california not humid? i live about 8 hours north of NYC in canada. humidity here is awful, gotten worse over the years. living between 2 great lakes it’s always 60-80% humidity. sometimes even higher.

I see you didn't break your pointe shoes in and put tape on them as you usually do. Can you explain the difference? These are just for rehearsals so you don't pluck out the nail?

How do y’all do this as a career? Are you even getting paid for all that rehearsal time and supplies, commute, etc? This just doesn’t strike me as a “pays the bills” type of job.
