In this video we will describe the equation Mn(OH)2 + H2O and write what happens when Mn(OH)2 is dissolved in water.

We can consult a solubility table to check and determine if Mn(OH)2 will dissolve in water. There are also a set of general rules to help remember which compounds are soluble, insoluble, or partially soluble.

When we check the solubility table, we see that Mn(OH)2 is insoluble. Essentially you end up with wet Mn(OH)2 when you mix Mn(OH)2 with water. Manganese (II) hydroxide doesn’t dissolve or react with the water. Note that a miniscule amount may dissolve but this is small enough that we can ignore it and say that Mn(OH)2 is insoluble in water.
