No gators or crocs in Maryland. The gators start in Southeastern Virginia, in the Dismal Swamp area.

Fun fact: The ironically named New River, Susquehanna River and French Broad River are all among the five oldest rivers in the world. They are all located East of the Mississippi in America, and are all about the same age. All of these Rivers are sourced in the Appalachian Mountain range, which is one of the world's oldest mountain ranges. All of these rivers existed when Pangaea did.

Wikipedia says the longest river in the UK is the River Severn at 220 miles (354km). The second being the River Thames at 215 miles (346km).
The top two in the US are the Missouri River and Mississippi River at 2, 341 miles (3, 768km) and 2, 340 miles (3, 766km) respectively.

I live in Maryland, very near the Patuxent river. Those were logs you were looking at. The furthest north you'll find an alligator is North Carolina, and crocodiles are pretty much confined to Florida.

Top ten longest rivers in USA (according to Wikipedia, based on main branch)
1 - Missouri River (2341 mi/ 3768 km)
2 - Mississippi River (2340 mi/ 3766 km)
3 - Yukon River (1979 mi/ 3190 km)
4 - Rio Grande (1759 mi/ 2830 km)
5 - Colorado River (1450 mi/ 2330 km)
6 - Arkansas River (1443 mi/ 2322 km)
7 - Columbia River (1243 mi/ 2000 km)
8 - Red River (1125 mi/ 1811 km)
9 - Snake River (1040 mi/ 1674 km)
10 - Ohio River (979 mi/ 1575 km)

The Yukon, Colombia, Rio Grande, and Colorado Rivers do have portions that are in Canada or Mexico, so if you discount those four the next longest would be the Colorado River (the one in Texas, 970 mi/ 1560 km), Tennessee River (935 mi/ 1504 km), Canadian River (named when the region was still part of Canada, 906 mi/ 1458 km), and the Brazos River (860 mi/ 1390 km).

I live right beside the James River, and it is a beautiful river. I go fishing there a lot and I also go to richmond, va (even though it's a 30 mile ride) and walk along side the James.

I live next to one of Oregons' longest, the Rogue Rive at 216 miles (348 Km) it starts at Crater Lake and ends in the Pacific Ocean and has world-class salmon and steelhead fishing. Crater Lake is the deepest and cleanest water in the Lower 48 states.

Tn. native here. The Duck is indeed a beautiful, clean, and diverse river. I hate to see people leaving trash on its banks.

The Ohio River is the tenth largest in the United States.
It flows through or borders six states: Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.
It's is 981 miles (1582 km) long, starting at the confluence of the Allegheny and the Monongahela Rivers in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and ending in Cairo, Illinois, where it flows into the Mississippi River.

Well, I'm from Virginia and generally live within a short driving distance of the James river.I live between the Chickahominy and the Rappahannock But fairly close to the Mattaponi and York. Generally speaking I live in the center of the chesapeake watershed. My property is bounded by a relatively large Creek called Bradley Run

I live near the west branch Susquehanna river, about a 6-7 minute walk to the river bank downhill. There is a nice beautiful spot to watch it from near here as well but I've only been there with my father when I was younger and have no idea on how to get there. I'll have to ask him about it someday.

The Gasconade River is awesome for floatin' cause it's real slow. You climb in your canoe, tie off the cooler full of beer behind you (in some sort of floating contraption) and just spend the day on the river, only touching the oars to steer every once in a while. The company you rented the canoe from will come get you at the pick up spot 8 hours later and drive you back to your car. Cheep and awesome time if you bring the right friends.

Susquehanna river is 10 miles from my house in Hazleton, PA. It is much wider and deeper than all the other rivers locally like the Lehigh River.
And those pictures do no justice. It is a really beautiful area with all the mountains and valleys, Rivers, Lakes and Ponds. With tons of wildlife everywhere.

Great video. You should see if there is one denoting the largest rivers in the U.S. Some of them like the Mississippi are massive.

The Missouri River and the Mississippi Rivers are pretty much so tied for longest in the US at 2340 miles long. I'm pretty sure the Missouri takes bragging rights. If you want to go crazy, consider this... the Missouri River is a tributary of the Mississippi River. It flows into it making it a really long river system. So... there's that.

9:58 The downside of living near these rivers... Especially with the amount of Rain we get here in Pennsylvania... Is that roads get closed semi-regularly due to flooding. And not just minor roads, I forget which river, The Schuylkil River or Brandywine, tend to cause major traffic jams when thy flood.

The Missouri River is 2, 341 miles long from Montana to south of St. Louis, Missouri, connects into the Mississippi River. The Mississippi River flows another 2, 340 Miles long and starts in Minnesota and ends in Louisianan at the Gulf of Mexico.
