Hello and welcome back
Tonight is a bit special because it will be the last SNOWY night walk in Helsinki, Finland.
Would you like to walk with me through the snowy streets of Helsinki?
The walk starts next to the culturally rich Restaurant Elite, famous for many artists, authors, musicians and actors since its establishment in 1932.
It's currently Monday night, i just finished my work shift and was feeling mentally and physically exhausted.
A wave of energy sparkled through my body as i watched a blizzard unfold.
So i hurried home to get the camera and made my way to Helsinki.
I was able to walk for an hour in the strong wind and snowfall in the Töölö district.
I had to clean the camera lens so often because the wind kept blowing the snow in.
Since 1959, Töölö district has been split up into ''Etu-Töölö" (Front Töölö) and "Taka-Töölö" (Rear Töölö).
About 30,000 inhabitants live in the entire Töölö area.
In an earlier scene (Punavuori) i mentioned how incredibly much Helsinki has changed over the years, and Töölö is no exception.
Queen Kristiina of Sweden donated all of Töölö to the city of Helsinki in 1643.
In the year 1908, most of this area was still forest and flat land with a few villas.
Many names of these villas now live on in the street names of today's Töölö.
Between 1910 and 1930, Töölö was the most important urban construction site in Finland.
It was a typical middle-class residential area from the beginning.
The neighborhood is known for large apartment blocks with a quiet atmosphere.
