How Do We Know All Scripture is God-Breathed?
Показать описание
“All Scripture is God-breathed…” 2 Timothy 3:16 But how do we know this?
Well, apart from this Scripture, there are many places in the Bible that tell us Scripture is God’s word.
Jesus referred to Scripture many times, saying He was fulfilling or would fulfill Scripture from the Old Testament. Many other New Testament writers such as Matthew, Luke, John, Peter, and Paul all also referenced the Old Testament, as well as the New Testament, as Scripture. Peter compares Paul’s writings to Scripture in 2 Peter 3:15-16, “His (Paul’s) letter contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.” (NIV)
And finally we see in 2 Peter 1:20-21, “Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. (NIV)
The Bible as God’s Word has a strong foundation in Scripture, and we can trust that God’s Word is true!
