My parents are like this. If I need them it's always: "I don't have time right now." or "When I'm done with this I will help." but when they need me I have to abandon whatever I'm doing and be there in 30 seconds or I get yelled at.

literally when parents do this, they are teaching their children this behavior and then getting p!ssed when their children act like them! That's literally hypocrisy right there. Parents who swear but then slap their kids for swearing, being lazy, behavior etc. it's all learned. kids, like myself, grow up in a constant state of confusion never truly understanding how to behave or act and then getting punished for doing what we learned. then we learn to walk on eggshells around everybody thinking everybody behaves like this. i am so in love with this channel because it's honestly helping me come to terms with the psychological damage that I grew up believing was reality. I don't talk to my family anymore and I never went to my dad's funeral. parents have the choice to treat their children like human beings or like garbage. every child deserves a parent but not every parent deserves a child.

I’ve always gotten slack for parenting my kids with respect. I’ve been told my kids will walk all over me, won’t respect me etc. Quite the opposite has turned out. I’ve tried explaining that there’s a difference between demanding respect and commanding respect. Some parents just don’t get it.
