#TigerTuesday 2024 @SewaneeChoir

Показать описание
Thanks to a matching gift from choir alumni Christina Vial Comer C’95 and Patrick Comer C’96, you can double the impact of your #TigerTuesday gift to the choir.
A gift of ANY amount is helpful. The NUMBER of individual alumni giving speaks volumes about the importance of choir to a student’s Sewanee experience and beyond. Let’s have the choir well represented in NUMBER of gifts given during #TigerTuesday and really make them hear us SING!
Give Here for the Choir:
______
The University Choir is the heart of musical life at Sewanee. Directed by Geoffrey Harris Ward, the choir is composed of 50 dedicated undergraduates representing a wide range of backgrounds, majors, and interests. The University Choir sings at weekly services in All Saints' Chapel, monthly Evensongs, and a variety of concerts throughout the academic year.
The University Choir is an active touring ensemble and has performed extensively throughout the Southeastern United States as well as Colorado, New York, and Canada. Since 1979, the choir has made more than 10 tours of England, singing the service of Choral Evensong in more than 20 cathedrals and abbey churches.
Choir membership is open to any student. Community and belonging are important here. Our members are from the United States and abroad, have majors and minors across all academic disciplines, have a rich diversity of spiritual traditions, have different levels of musical experience, and enjoy interests as diverse as you can imagine. Music unites us in spirit and song.
The Vial Comer Choral Scholarships
Each year, up to five scholarships, starting at $5,000, are awarded to incoming students and are renewable for four years, contingent upon recipients' participation in the University Choir.
These awards attract students of great musical talent who wish to share their abilities with the Sewanee community. Recipients are an integral part of a world-class choral experience at Sewanee, across the country, and around the globe.
VIP Visits
Schedule this exclusive campus visit for a deep dive into the choral experience at Sewanee. Available several times during the school year, VIP Visits include a meeting with Dr. Ward, singing in a University Choir rehearsal in All Saints’ Chapel, and dinner with University Choir members, where you can learn more about life in the choir.
All Saints' Chapel and Lessons and Carols
All Saints’ Chapel is home to the University Choir. Its majestic beauty is a visual hallmark of Sewanee. In addition to weekly services and regular Evensongs, All Saints’ Chapel hosts the annual Festival Service of Lessons and Carols. This reflective and festive worship service regularly attracts as many as 3,000 people to campus each year and is a signature event at the University. The University Choir leads the service in poignant anthems and thrilling congregational singing of carols, joining voices with a global, time-honored tradition.
