There was, of course, the all-too-familiar allure of money. Ed O’Neil was such a major name that he got paid much more than the rest of the cast. They had to go to court to even out their salaries. Ed was also criticized for his behavior off-screen. He laughed at petitions to make gay couple Mitchell and Cam kiss on-screen. It echoed the way his lesbian costar on Married With Children knew he’d laugh at her wedding.

Sophia’s character Gloria was mocked for being a Latina stereotype. One joke even got the show in hot water with Peruvian authorities. Not everyone wanted to be on the set. The twins who played baby Lilly got bored and were yanked out by their mother even after an offer of a major raise.

The cast that wanted to be there often had to overcome serious health concerns to keep going. Sarah Hyland had to work through a painful kidney condition and Julie Bowen had to use a pacemaker. Jesse and Sophia were both able to overcome cancer scares. The cast also dealt with emotional pain. Ariel Winter fought for emancipation from her abusive family and had to deal with internet trolls. Sarah got a restraining order against a dangerous ex, which her on-screen mother helped her get. Rico Rodriguez lost his father and best friend.

The show didn’t even end on the most satisfying note. Hayley got to become a mother, but the showrunners didn’t devote enough time or attention to that storyline. I liked Modern Family. Ed .Oniel is a great actor . I knew about Marcy from Married with Children. I knew she didn’t invite him to their wedding. I think Ed might have been avLittle Homophobic? I think he got over it. I think it was mainly because they didn’t get along with each other? The made up afterwards and are good friends since.

I couldn’t say anything at my parents funeral. They passed when 8 was a baby. I grew up with my aunt and uncle and my three cosines. I grew up with them as sisters and I had three real sisters, all older then me. I’m the baby of the family. I’m happy I had a family to grow up with. Even if it wasn’t my true one.

Man there’s a lot of thin skinned $hit heads out there. It was a great show, with a great cast. Glad Sarah Hyland is getting healthier.
