Super cool idea, but YIKES at the cost. After materials and STL costs, my rough math is about $400USD, 7-14 spools a filament! 12 Days of solid printing time, the power costs, hardware. Holy cow this is an investment. You could buy readymade enclosures cheaper.

This really was a fun project to print and get assembled!

i did something very similar, except i used a recycled box and some tin foil. worked awesome.

I literally just coated a large cardboard box with resin, coated the inside with some cheap insulation and I've been using that for 4 months just fine now and it only took one bottle of resin. But this is an interesting idea, just seems like a lot.

I backed this yesterday after watching the video from The Next Layer. I am so excited to be able to get these files and print it out.

Printing mine right now. Holy crap it takes a while! Got the game done, it was a little confusing but only printed 4 extra parts. The walls look like they'll be easier, I put them on their face and layed them out in the slicer to make sure I'm getting the correct ones with the right amount. I'm printing the door right now. Instead of a pegboard I think I'm going to go with a honeycomb wall, or another that is a octagon, and epoxy the spacers to it and then attach the frame. I like those options better than the pegboard. I have over a day of printing to finish just the door though! This is by far the biggest project I have ever done!

Man I'm glad you did this video. I've been a backer since the beginning, but this makes me so happy I am.

I love this! I know that it is a ton of filament and you can buy premade enclosures, but the versatility is what makes it amazing. It can adjust to whatever printer you want and even if you end up using a different enclosure down the road, it has the potential to be configured for a lot more than 3d printing.
Thanks Jessy, best video I’ve seen on this so far!
Weird-Oh
Just ordered my first 3d printer so will keep an eye on this.

Great video and even a bigger enclosure... This thing is massive

I backed this as of Monday watching the next layer, glad to see this has gotten some traction though

Wow, that was a huge build. If I tried it would take months to just print. I Love the Dwarven enclosure, kinda want some gold filament for that.
RoseKindred
can't wait for you to do one for the elegee orange storm, i want to know how much filament was used for the one in this video
OcanMaster
Wondering if you could use this for when the Orange Storm Giga shows up.

It is some work but it so well designed. Really impressive engineering.
MandicReally
This would be perfect for a custom paint booth

This is a crazy army of printers. I am so jealous. Mostly because I can't get a completed print out of my Neptune 4 pro in over a month now. Those connection parts sexy!

The thing I want to see unless I missed it is the life-size magneto, I got enclosure stuff early bird which I usually miss.
peterclegg
So how much filament did you go through? I personally think that is a better metric than number of parts printed.
iamsobanned
How is a PLA enclosure going to hold up over time when maintaining ABS temperatures inside of it? I’m worried about warping this if I make one.
