How to translate your WordPress XML sitemap

Показать описание
Learn how to translate your XML sitemap to 85 languages using Linguise automatic translation. Plus, we'll see how to add the multilingual sitemap to the Google Search Console. We'll use WordPress as an example, but it works in the same way for all CMS.
An XML sitemap is a file where you provide URLs of the important contents of your website. Search engines like Google read this file frequently for a faster URLs index process. In multilingual websites, sitemaps are essential because if you add like 10 languages to a website that has 5000 pages indexed, that would be 50K pages to index!
The Linguise plugin establishes a direct connection between the automatic translation tool and your WordPress website. This means that whenever new content is added, Linguise automatically detects it and translates it, ensuring that your entire website is consistently translated.
As Linguise is making translation of the content of the website but also URLs, it means that I’ll be able to translate it and generate a sitemap.
Just one last technical point about sitemaps, there are 3 major sitemap formats provided by website builder tools: a single sitemap XML file that lists URLs, then there’s the sitemap index that is basically a list of some XML sitemap files, and finally dynamic sitemap URLs. It’s good to know that Linguise handles all 3.
In this video:
As an introduction, I’ll show you how to quickly connect and translate WordPress with Linguise.
Then, I'll walk you through how to translate your XML sitemap using RankMath and Yoast Plugin on WordPress. And of course, I'll guide you to add the multilingual sitemap on the Google Search Console, so you can index all your international content.
