I was told by a dealer the other day that they won’t trade for a grand design they said they can’t fix them and don’t want them on there lots

We own an early 2015 model momentum, no major flex issues yet however I’ve spent more time working and repairing this unit than all of our 6 previous trailers combined

We had our 2022 Momentum 397th sent back to factory because of frame flex issues. Our dealer told GD that they were not working on unit and it needed to go back to factory along with request from SRT tech. After weeks of back and forth and being a thorn in GD side GD finally decided to take unit back to factory for repairs. When we received unit back, we had throughly inspected repairs and all welds, everything looked better than before, they even fixed things that weren’t even on our repair list, which we were surprised.
We will have to wait and see how things hold up. If you are have issues with your GD just be persistent and don’t back down until you get resolution

As a GD owner I am starting to seriously wonder if with all the bad press, is my unit going to be worth squat on the resale market?

It's not just Grand Design. Every single RV manufacturer needs to be held accountable. Sure things happen that can be repaired under warranty. However, many (most) manufacturers are turning out poorly engineered and constructed RVs that consumers take delivery of and cannot use for months while its in the shop are back to the factory. That doesn't happen with other products. The consumer gets a new item or at least a loaner. The RV industry has to change - not just Grand Design....all of them!

wont trade them some texas rv but their lots are stuffed full of i will never buy rv now. all
junk amd raising park prices to 1k month plus utilities. good luck to them. most will get off grid to escape that fee. you could invest in solar for prices of teeny tiny piece of land

I have done 5 grand design solutudes frame fixes added gusset plates and fish plates. They are garbage and it's almost not worth doing the warranty repairs. They don't pay all the hours and all the hourly rate. And dealing with them sux. They definitely have design flaws. Every weld was broken there were cacks at every slide. We literally had to take the filion off both sides removed all the slides they are nightmares.

Was going to buy a Grand Design 18:19 toy hauler this year, but will buy a Brinkley G3950 instead, Brinkley seems to have it figured out.

Thank you for your podcast. I was at the Hershey show. I did ask about the frame problems, I did not get an answer, the sales person kept trying to redirect my questions. Anyone who has been living the rv life knows this is not a rumor. This is very real. It’s just amazing that, as far as we know, no one has been hurt. I hate to say this. We have owned Winnebagos for years and have had very few minor issues. Because of that statement “it is all rumors” I will never buy another Winnebago. If they came out admitted there is a problem and found ways to make it right, change whatever needs to be changed I would still have respect for the brand. If they don’t want to go out of business it is time for the powers that be step up to the plate and start admitting they messed up big time.

The idea of buying an R V. And not being able to use it because its constantly breaking down and needing constant repair just does NOT appeal to me.
In the worst way i want to purchase an R.V. and be able to travel the country. However, i see too many dangers associated with the decision.
I need a company with excellent customer service that i can trust.
