Love Joe Satriani. He taught guitar to Steve Vai, Kirk Hammett (Metallica) and Alex Skolnick (Testament) The whole Surfing With the Alien album is fantastic

"The" Alien. :) You should check out the live versions of this and Flying In A Blue Dream. Mystical Potato Head too. And Satch Boogie. If Lexx is eyeing the guitar, thats the homework....

Joe is a guitar MASTER, along with Steve Vai and Eric Johnson. Definitely check out Always With Me, Always With You (live) by Joe. It's so smooth and enjoyable and emotional!

Bought his first album, Not if this Earth, in 1987 after hearing that Steve Vai and Kirk Hammett took lessons from him.
Was not disappointed.

Arguably the greatest rock instrumental piece ever recorded. Still jaw-dropping for me after 35 years.

"Dang, I want to play like that!" Lex was like a 10-year-old child with that one, you better pick up that guitar and learn it! Great reaction as always. 🤘🎵

In 1988 I built and opened a CD (compact disc) store. There were 3 groundbreaking albums released that year that are still popular and well liked by many. They were: Guns N Roses -Appetite for Destruction, Living Colour - Vivid, and Joe Satriani - Surfing With The Alien. Two honorable mentions are:Melissa Etheridge’s first album and The Traveling Wilburys - Vol 1.

Surfing With the Alien is one of my favorite songs by anyone at any time. It had very high production quality, fantastic song-writing, and a strong, strong performance not only on guitar but the entire band. A long time ago music at this level was referred to as DSM (dope smoking music). Thank you for presenting this one to your thousands of viewers. I loved your enthusiasm.

Great reaction. I love when Lex hears some guitar playing she loves. Please react to Joe Satriani's "Flying in a blue dream", the live in San Francisco version. With Joe, it's not always about the flashy super fast playing. It's also about setting the mood of the song. He is a genius in my opinion.

Many guitarists can make their instruments talk. SRV can make his sing and cry. Satch can make his have an in-depth philosophical conversation!

Love Lex's reaction here, she really appreciates Joe's ability to paint such vivid pictures through his music, which is perhaps his greatest gift. Every song, you only get the words in the title to nudge you in the direction he's going, and the rest is him taking you on that journey through his instrument. If I Could Fly is another great one in that regard and is one of my favorites of his...close your eyes and you'll swear you're soaring with him.

She is on Fuckin point!!! She’s is a rare bred of people who “ feels” music when she hears it and for her to get this out of a Joe “Satch” song?!….. 💯kudos. You rock kid!🤘

Yep! Out of the big guitar hero shredders Joe Satriani is the one whose playing I seem to connect with the most. If I could wake up tomorrow with the ability to suddenly play like any of them I think I'd most want to be able to play like Joe.

Banger of a song! A thrashing of high octane guitar wizardry from start to finish. This was THE song (and album) that made me pick up the guitar at age 10. 20 years later and I am now enjoying a very successful career as a musician. I owe a lot to this song!

I still remember hearing this for the first time when it came out. I've never been that blown away.

I've always said Joe succeeds because underneath it all, his songs have an identifiable song structure. There's verses and choruses that are repeated, there's a pretty clearly defined solo, and often a bridge in there too somewhere. It's not just seeing how many notes he can play from beginning to end.

Definitely check out one of his live performances to see how accurate he is and how well he can pull these songs off in concert. He nails the hard stuff every time and makes it look like it's easy.

Got to see him a few years back, 2nd row, with a meet and greet. You could feel your face melting.
