I've got old hex bottles from citadel that are still all good, and honestly I've done very little to take care of them, I put a couple of small screws in them to act as agitataors and when some of them got a bit thick I added a couple of drops of water then held them onto my back massager (don't waste money on a paint shaker, get a back massager, it does the same job but can also sort ya back out after a hard days painting) .

All GW need to do is launch the dropper bottles as a “pro” line and repackage their air paints line. GW are pretty committed to pots since it’s pretty beginner friendly but if they added a line for seasoned painters then they can dip their toes in both markets and not tank the value of their pots.

About 10 years ago I had a dropper bottle of Vallejo plastic putty, the top clogged because I left it open for too long.

Trying to unclog it, instead of doing the smart thing and poking a pin in, I thought “if I push the hard bit back in, then it’ll have lumps!”

So I squeezed it as hard as I could like the little dingus that I was.

There is still the remnants of the resultant explosion on my parents ceiling.

You look so happy when you talk about the stuff you love and the glimm in your eyes. Keep it.going!

The pale grey shade is one I'm looking for, as the primary colour of two of my armies is white and I've always struggled with shading white without it looking garbage.

That briar queen contrast looks like it'll be the next Skeleton Horde, which is my favourite contrast by far.

The current GW paint pots are a step backwards. I have a set of Citadel Inks I bought in 1989 that are still in great condition. With the current pots I always get build up around the lid from small amounts of spillage.

The Legion Battleforces are called starter sets, since they give you everything to use a battleforce, which is going to be a new rule where if you have some specific units and leaders you get bonus rules.

Hey Jay. An idea for your spaceship imperfections, instead of fixing the flaws turn it into battle damage. Would be a cool theme with a cool story.

I might try that black-orange one on the Kill Team Octarius terrain. I was trying to think of cool things with Rustoleum cans, but that GW one might do everything I care to do for rusty ork scrap.

Paint pots are fine. I even have a video on my channel made specifically to show that they can be used as droppers. I also live far enough north to experience almost every version of harsh weather there is and haven't had any issues with losing paint that isn't already garbage from the store (looking at you, Corax White).

I'm really hyped for Mortarion Grime, I mix up a colour for all my 30k death guard that's almost exactly the same, excited to see what the new formula of washes is about though

Contrasts (on top of scale75 layers) have been my workhorse paint since they launched. I made a handful of my own blends with them to suit some needs. There are several new ones that I'm hyped to use. Most paint lines have a ton of representation with blues and greens tho, so that's nothing new. Orange and yellow don't have as much of a range to play in because they'll start being perceived as brown when you get dark.

Personally I like the more pale contrast colors because when contrast paints get too opaque, it becomes easier to just use a normal paint to achieve similar results and you never risk pigment pooling in unwanted areas.

THough, like when those paints first launched, the marketing was a bit overbaked. There's a sweet spot with marketing because you do need to generate interest and hype up the product. Blow too much smoke and it makes you seem suspicious. With this product there's nothing to be suspicious about (except maybe the new wash formula, of which I'm sure they won't ever elaborate on so it may as well be meaningless buzzwords) because contrast paints are now a staple product.

I'm honestly surprised GW doesn't make dropper bottle transfer kits...seems like something they would do, "for a low low price of 49.99 we sell you 10 empty bottle and a plastic funnel with a sticker sheet for a label"

Dropfleet is super fun and does some really unique things for wargaming, specifically the variable range based on your heat/signature (doing cool stuff adds heat which increases the range of enemy weapons) plus capturing sectors - shepherding dropships to a location and securing the space above them is huge and feels way different from dudes-on the-ground and other space games (armada, halo fleet battles, firestorm armada, bfg, etc)

Dropzone commander is an amazing game. I don't (currently) play dropfleet as I play X-wing, which scratches my space itch.
Dropzone is an amazing scale and is cheap to get into. Nothing cooler than dropping a building on your opponent or quickly picking up a unit and reorganising the battle field. REALLY recommend. I play 40k too but something special about Dropzone!

I think the reason for the ARC/Clone distribution is because Battle Forces introduce new rules to list building to be more thematic. In this example, you would normally need a minimum of 3 Core Clone Trooper units in a list, but with the 501st BF you can forgo one of them to make room for an extra squad of Special Forces (the ARCs). I also agree that including the Core set commanders was dumb, and they should have at least provided alternate sculpts for them.

I asked my story guy for paint help and he is a total nerd himself. Painting for 20 years and he could give me perfect advice for colours. I didnt expect him to know so much but he does!
And i think the pots for the standard layer paints suck ass cuz they will always get messy in the back of lid, which then leads them to dry out since you cannot close them properly anymore. BUT for contrast or washes those work fine!

I think the big thing that might have been missed around the mid tone colours is the coverage, contrasts are typically difficult to get good coverage over a flat surface and the models they showed barely look painted, it almost looks like the plastic is coloured rather than painted. If that's something that is easy to do with these new colours I think it'll be big

AMG should put you on the payroll. Your enthusiasm makes me want to work on my SW Legion pile of shame.
