"Too much theory and not enough action" - amen to that

All I heard was "Pyro, oooh aaahhh! Gen 12 blah blah blah, server meshing blah blah blah, in the meantime please enjoy yet another new ship that doesn't even have its associated gameplay yet."

4.0 is the new version everyone wants of sc that will be pushed forever

I saw that CIG made progress on visuals, but little progress on gameplay and the tech which allows for a massive multiplayer experience. Even Tony Z was repetitive from the last couple of years

I really enjoyed the talk with Beladrim, he was very engaging and succinct. I really like the take on clouds and gamplay. Citizencon was a pretty big let down though, pretty much agree with all the criticisms. Tony Z's talking was _Rough_. Pretty surprised people were still so excited for him like they were with the 2019 panel.

Man saltE you are so right about the story line. I know its not finished yet but damn some of us need a lil motivation to play. Like awhile back when the had the Gundo Covelex mission with the lady following up on your progress and finding tablets with sound bits on it explaining what happened. That was an amazing experience.

I liked the mission video...but I am still waiting to play the one in MicroTech. Pyro was stunning looking...and the video sure sold the FOMO for the Meridian paint for the 400i. Why no warbond CCU for the Liberator concept ship? Why no sale of the X1 bike in conjunction with the 400i?
I feel sorry for the guy who made the content for the panel when Jared "gave the word" the PTU was going live - mass exodus from the live stream to the PTU.

Citizencon = waste of time. Actions speak louder than words and fancy digital graphs!

I think the only reason I'm not as disappointed with CitizenCon this year as you are is because I've gotten so apathetic that the bar can't really go any lower. The people I would formerly try to play with don't log in anymore. I log in about once every quarter, see how buggy and unstable it still is and then go do other stuff with my limited free time (just like they do).

It was very disappointing. Felt hollow without a CR keynote address gameplay demo, most panels were extremely verbose full of filler. The only interesting panel was Pyro and even then it felt that it dragged on too much at parts. Also no mention of Squadron 42 or Theaters of War...

In the context of the server meshing refactor that is coming up and as a dev, I could really see how it would be hard to be motivated to clean up existing tech that needs to be reworked soon. I am hoping CIG is able to define the interface devs will used to write code for the new paradigm early in the process so anything that comes out between when the interface is done and server meshing is in game won't be reworked. As soon as that interface is defined they can start the refactor and cleanup of existing tech in parallel with any work being done by the networking team.

I see the server meshing like two pirate ships and our ships are represented by the crews.
both can hold a certain number of people fighting each other on the decks.
The cannons and musket fire that shoot from my ship go and hit the enemy crew and vice versa across the water (shots pass over each shard back and forth)
The manager makes sure they are passed along back and forth and validate the hits like an arbitor.
When there is more than the limit of each ship which is being increased beyond 50 crew more ships are brought in to hold more crew.
the manager is always the final say in everything.

CR never had the skill set to move this along smoothly- they lucked up and stumbled on an amazing revenue model… here we are.

Groth: "They're overselling already existing tech". Absolutely! And not just tech. The reputation system. THey aren't the first game to adapt missions and opposition to your reputation. Far from it. So do not make it like it's groundbreaking and so hard to do.

when it comes to citizencon missions, i don't recall we could do any of them in the pu and they all have felt on rails

Global servers have been a thing since the early 2000s. WWII Online, Eve Online, Dual Universe, Starbase, Mortal Online. All single persistent universe no regional servers.

It did not meet my expectations as well. I've been on board since the beginning. Yea, I am jaded. I did put my money where my mouth was and I am disappointed.

It seems odd using the mission popups are a barometer for if it was real. Didn't the 2019 Carrack mission have popups? That certainly wasn't real.

Hope U enjoy my srupid YT comments. Tony Z must put some quanta mechanics in Game next patch or stop talking about it. He's been rambling on about his elaborate plans to control economy. Time to just run some demos on key segments and sink or swim we are tired of hearing his theory crafting!

This ATC was really refreshing to me, it’s good to hear that a lot of the community feel the same as me. All the spectrum and Reddit “the nay sayers are a vocal minority” rhetoric was starting to get to me.
