WHO IS KATHERINE NELSON:
Katherine Nelson is an experienced educator specialising in early literacy for multilingual learners. With dual Master's degrees in TESOL and Literacy, and over a decade of teaching experience, Katherine has developed a comprehensive understanding of how children acquire language and literacy skills. She's seen firsthand how engaging, culturally relevant books spark a love for reading in learners of all language backgrounds.
For the past several years, Katherine has worked as a consultant and curriculum developer for EdTech platforms and educational publishers focusing on language acquisition and literacy learning. Through her company Dovetail Readers, Katherine creates books and materials for multilingual students who are learning to read. Katherine believes all students deserve research-based literacy instruction that also supports language development. She encourages parents and educators to work toward literacy across all languages a child speaks, and to make reading and writing irresistible!
