Denis does female characters well. He makes them intelligent, courageous, and powerful without taking away their femininity. Lady Jessica and all of the Bene Gessarit characters were all of my favorites. In Blade Runner 2049, Luv is my favorite character because of how beautifully brutal and intimidating she is without being a tomboy. Denis is a master at his craft and it shows

You can tell all the people hating in the comments didn’t watch the movie 💀

Dune 2 was amazing. A friend paid for us to go and I enjoyed it so much that I went again by myself.

Dune 2 was good!! I’d give it a 9.5 out of 10. Even better the second time I saw it.

AND HE MADE THEM GOOD CHARACTERS!!! I don’t give a shit about diversity or agency or whatever so long as the story remains amazing, and this film was awesome.
erer
That change was great, in the movie nothing seems forced, since the first one we see the importance of women in this universe, the Bennet Geret for god sake, they are op 😂😂😂
isaiaschanel
I thought I recognized that name! I’m not usually good at names so I assumed I made that connection out there wazoo

People complaining about Chani having agency is a good way to low key test people for if they are assholes or not.
Matisaro
It was not at the expense of the story or the idea dune represents.

Cutting out Harrah kinda sucked, but I get it

The movies were good but I don’t like how far he has strayed from the book.
ash_
Yeah he made Chani more of a character.
He also changed the premise of the whole prophecy. Jessica says the plan worked when it never did. Paul isn't supposed to be the Kwisatz Haderach, he was supposed to be a woman but Jessica went against the Bene Gesserrit. He was against the plan from his very birth. Hence the Jihad that he inspires, which isnt part of the plan of the Bene Gesserrit
Also no Alia, yes shes a weird part of the book but with her killing (spoiler) and her powers are important later in the sequels.
The movie was good but it could've been a better adaption for sure

A lot of very triggered incels in the comments 😂

The women in dune are how women with power should be portrait in movies, not the BS we get because of woke ideology
SXsoft
I mean even with that being said there was definitely less of an emphasis on Chani as a love interest in Paul which is my main issue with the movie I'm still reading book one but I feel as a story element Chani wasn't as significant and his betrayal and betrothal to the princess didn't really land as a massive revelation or betrayal and felt underwhelming for such an important character and misuse of Zendaya as an actress and definitely deserved more screen time or dialogue

Apart from people complaining about Chani (who was nerfed to be useless and stupid compared to her book counterpart) the thing I hated was that in the end of the movie, they didn't show how the Bene Gesserit manipulation plans completely failed. They tried to create the Kwisatz Haderach to manipulate events and control history, but when Paul appeared, eh overpowered them all and could not even be manipulated by them, much less controlled. This dialogue is removed from the movie "The place you dare not look." and so is the affirmation that the Bene Gesserit plan created something unexpected and horrifying, i.e. Paul. The dialogue is replaced with a telepathic conversation with Jessica that implies that it all went according to plan, they wanted the emperor to try and kill Leto, and then cause Paul to become the One. Instead of unleashing horror onto the galaxy they succeeded. It's not a cautionary tale, it's woman power. That is such a terrible change that it cannot be defended.

Love to comments from people saying any criticism is from incels.
1 shame you haven’t gone to see any of the other stellar fem power media, or maybe the box office and view completion scores would be higher.
2 you can tell this is gen AZ watching things and binging YouTube videos, how is one of the 4 major powers in the universe being ENTIRELY female not giving agency.
Just hateful comments from hateful people claiming victim hood as a virtue🎻

If you're adapting someone else's work in a new format, at least have the respect to instil the author's values into it instead of hijacking the work with your own values.
founoe
If wants a story to focus on women, write one! Don’t hijack another person’s creation.
