Latest finding on this: SARS COV2 behaves like HIV virus in that it removes the "tag" on infected cells that warns the immune system that it is infected. People also say that it has parts that are the same as the HIV virus. What I want to know is, how similar is that section to HIV? And how did it get from HIV into SARS COV2?

I am hoping that the samples we have can be tracked back to the lab of origin. There are only a handful in the USA, at CDC centers and a few universities. There is only one in China, it is in Wuhan 1/2 a mile from the market identified as the first outbreak...

How sure is it that the genetic sequences listed are actually from a virus? Does each sequence represent a unique isolation exercise? ie. they have not used just a set of predetermined markers that are assumed to match for a particular virus?
