Today we are going back to the classics of sociology to talk about Emile Durkheim's idea, anomie. Anomie helps us understand why we feel disconnected from society in times of social change. Anomie helps explain when and why social norms break down and how this impacts the individual. Today I will give you a clear example of anomie that relates to your life alongside the history of the term anomie and what Durkheim was thinking when he wrote about the term anomie.

This felt validating to watch. I'm 26 and have been struggling with this feeling of disconnection and disillusionment from society though I continue to try my best to adhere to society's norms (have a job, save money, be responsible). What do you think will be the outcome of all this? What can we do to make it easier on ourselves?
