Prime Minister Rishi Sunak MP is holding a news conference alongside Chief Executive of NHS England Amanda Pritchard and National Medical Director of NHS England Professor Stephen Powis to announce the first ever long-term workforce plan in the history of the NHS.

The plan includes a £2.4bn in additional funding and looks to address NHS workforce and staffing shortfalls. Plus, consultations with the General Medical Council and medical schools to offer a shorter, four-year medical degree.

Sunak talks as though everything's fine. To me this is a serious warning sign about his ability to lead.

This man is a liar. It will be 15 years before the announced trainees are making a contribution. By which time he's living in the US.

still not address retention issues in NHS. . Putting less qualified staff will put more pressure to qualified doctors and nurses. It will only increased the number of staff but not the efficiency of work. People will still leave if work condition is not improved.

Panic plan, like all his poorly thought out plans, this will not help us now when we are in such a mess. Just go Sunak .

Pay us what we deserve then as medical professionals. It is going to take until 2027 before the 1st '24000' nurses are trained. It won't be enough to make a difference as most Trusts are 'bleeding out' qualified nurses RIGHT NOW. Stop it with this rubbish PM.

This "plan" smells of desperation we don't want less educated nurses or doctors. Just call a GE already and sit in opposition for a few

Transform it, privatise it more like, giving more money to the already rich.
