so, I put the following in ChatGPT: Write a comment to Joe Gilder thanking him for the video.
The result: Dear Joe Gilder,

I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for the amazing video you shared. It was truly insightful and inspiring, and I can't thank you enough for taking the time to create such valuable content.

Your expertise in music production is evident in every word you speak, and I appreciate the way you break down complex concepts into simple and easy-to-understand terms. Watching your video has helped me to expand my knowledge and skills in this field, and I'm excited to implement some of the ideas you presented in my own work.

Once again, thank you for sharing your expertise and passion with the world. Your video has made a meaningful difference in my life and the lives of many others, and I look forward to learning more from you in the future.

Best regards,
[Your Name]

If you're interested in how you can leverage AI more for songwriting: It seems to work best when giving it a role and establishing it as an expert. Here's a blueprint I came up with for lyrics:

Imagine you were [singer], the vocalist for the band “[band name]”, and wanted to write lyrics for another song that was similar to “[song you especially like]”. You sit down and think of a theme the song could be about. What comes to mind?

Then (that's what I used for my song, at least):

Now imagine the song was 3 minutes long and had a structure that goes like this: intro, chorus 1, a chorus variation, chorus 2, a part with clean vocals where you showcase your singing, a bridge that builds upon the intro, a heavy breakdown where all your anger and frustration is felt, and a final chorus to round it off.

Try it out!

The other day, I asked ChatGPT to write me a short story in the style of Harper Lee with specific characters, and it did a pretty good job. That said, I think another benefit is if you're not a great lyricist but you want to practice writing music, you can get ChatGPT to write something that's workable to use as practice. This could be a great way to showcase your work to actual lyricists if you're shopping around for someone to work with.

I love a good rock song where there's loads and loads of guitar riffs that sounds like the guitar is singing up and down the scale and I love the vibrato and the electric guitar especially when a guy is singing as well

As a creator, no one will ever be able to sing our own songs with the same passion that we have in creating them. Better? definitely! More passion? Not likely. Springsteen on "The River" tour played complete albums from start to finish, live. Was something to experience.

That creative zone is a beautiful thing. I write and record for me, the experience, not for some "perfect end result" because well, surprisingly...I'm not perfect. Great video!

Very interesting post, Joe. Thanks. For me it is all about human connection. As an aspiring songwriter, my goal is to express myself to other people, to create something I feel proud of, even if my songs get lost in the sea of tens of thousands uploaded every day. I find writing lyrics to be very difficult, but I have to be the one to compose at least the words, melody, and chord progressions, else it is not my song. For all the rest (production, mixing, mastering, and publishing), I will take whatever help I can get, whether from A.I., YouTube videos, books, courses, etc. When I decide to dedicate the time and money learn to do these things for myself, your course will be at the top of my list.

I learned to sing after bringing a singer to a studio to sing my tune. He decided to change the lyrics and everything screeched to a halt in the studio with me asking what he was doing. He said I was impinging his artistic creativity. At that point I took voice lessons and learned I would rather sing my own tunes than deal with an Alpha Hotel!😳

Man it seems within the last couple months, ..as a musician/creator, …between the advancements of AI and also ATMOS mixing requirements, ….it’s a little overwhelming lol. I wish we could just SLOW DOWN a little bit and enjoy what we have for a while.😂

Solid Thoughts. So I have dyslexia. And it has taken 57 years for me to get to this point in reading and spelling. Spellcheck has helped correcting my spelling and I also took the time to try and work on spelling. I also say words funny so phonics must go hand in hand. I love new tech and i will use it to help me. Stay Safe Joe.

Don't let anyone tell you you can't sing - your voice is awesome! I am doing almost everything instrumentally on my own songs - but I WISH I had as good and confident a voice as yours. But I want my songs to be the best they can, so I am using Airgigs to pay for proper professional vocals that I just wasn't born with. I'm happy to contribute my voice to harmonies and backgrounds. But YOU absolutely should sing your own songs - I think your voice fits them perfectly.

You can have re write lines or sections. For instance - you can say I don't like the first line in chorus 1 can you rewrite that line and it will.

I use GPT all the time to write my emails and Insta posts. I live in Austria and German is not my native language, so I appreciate not having to send my posts to a native speaker for grammar checking.

I asked Chat GPT to write several songs a while back and it is absolutely using a formula/template that a human created. Regardless of what you ask it, the song has the exact same format. The only difference is some word jumbling. The real issue is if a system creates art based on data that it has learned, eventually we end up with one song and one painting etc. It's a feedback loop that keeps reinforcing what's popular. I'm sure there is a Yogi Berra quote about this already ("nobody goes there anymore, it's too crowded")!

Agree. Agree. Agree. It's nice to have various AI help. But I love originality and diversity, especially in music and art. Those little imperfections and differences make each song and performance unique and worthwhile. I would dislike it greatly if everything was AI perfect/same.
