I just watched 1 through 4 in this series. Good videos. Thanks.

This series would make a pretty persuasive infomercial. Do you use this video for marketing?

I really want one of these to maintain my new manix 2 s30v. I'm scared to use it until I get something to maintain it with.

Convenient that both her hairdresser and dentist both needed things sharpening & told her specifically about their current sharpening issues... Ha.

is there any way to sharpen a scandi grind with this

Don't remake it. Listening to the found of Spyderco makes it legit

Maybe not sharpening a straight razor with the stone. It will tear up the edge very fast. And you will feel a difference in your shave. (I do not shave though) Most of my knifes even the cheap ones can shave. (Free-hand stone) and watching you sharpen the razor on the stone made my cringe...

It doesn't need re-making, the information is excellent. It doesn't need babes in bikini's etc, keep it simple and educational, which this is.

I owned 5 Hair salons and tried buying machines way back 30 yrs ago when all they were, were glorified grinders with a clamp. I was able to sharpen a 400 dollar pair of 30 yr old Japanese scissors. "they don't even make these any more", as they would cost way too much, but after watching them sit there for so long, I decided to try doing them with the Sharp maker.
After a few strokes at various positions, I was able to get a good edge o them with the super fine stone. They are pretty much like before. I was able to cut a dry head of grey hair with no problem or slippage.

My Sharpmaker just arrived today and I have to say this is one of the few items you can buy today that actually works at home like it does in a video.
Spyderco knives are great and now the sharpmaker is great.
SAL you are a genius, now I have the same respect for you as I do for Phil Wilson, you are officially one of the greats! Thank-you so much for really great products at realistic prices!

I realise this video is quite old and this has probably been suggested, but have you considered making a version with angle adjustment? The lack of adjustment or angle options is the only thing about this system that makes me hesitant to buy it.

I've been researching sharpeners and I like this system for its versatility and because it is halfway between free hand and something like the Lansky system. I've been trying to learn free hand, but I would like a system that can achieve repeatable results so that I can see first hand what I'm aiming for in terms of bevel angle and end result.

Sal- Loved this video & you in it. My Spyderco knives have the best points @ edge of any knives new from the factory and I want to maintain that "scary" sharpness. A person can spend a lifetime learning how to perfect an edge, so most of us are newbies. I would suggest focusing on the point & tip a little more to prevent rounding. Great vid- thumbs up!

@SpydercoKnives Well if you did make sure Sal is in the video! And dont change any of the content. I love seeing how practical my sharpmaker can be. My major complaint is that although this video is probably only 10 years old it looks like it was filmed in the 70s. Maybe a simple re shoot will suffice! Thanks for listening spyderco!

After watching several videos I now have to ask is this sharpener going to be normal or very hard to use with the super steels?

7:50 is where he talks about sharpening nail clippers

Hot girls would get my attention though.

@gaveintothedarkness Thanks for the suggestion! If it were to be remade (it probably won't be for a while) what would you like to see differently?
