Inkscape's Latest Beta

Hey everyone,

Have you tried the beta2? Apologies about the obvious windows crash, that's a bad one. But not quite as bad as releasing with that crash.

Oh and I forgot to mention I added feet and meters to the units for 1.5, so that should help with some larger projects. Maybe I'll mention it for next time.

You guys are a godsend and I hope the inkscape name becomes uber mainstream. More people = more financial backing = more support = more devs = send Adobe to the shadow real (hopefully... SoonTM😂)

There’s been a few bugs in the Windows Beta 2, but overall there are some amazing improvements in 1.4. Can’t wait for the stable release and will continue to report bugs as I come across them.

Inkscape was the "quiet" Adobe warrior for the most, thanks for making it louder! 😁

I'm too I'll, at the moment, to dive into Inkscape in depth, but really value it's availability, its features, but especially the kind of dedication from the community of developers!
And, real kudos, Martin, for these videos, and the development of really useful features!! (yes, the little distance parametric box is a useful tool!)

The node distance thing is actually really cool. I miss all the parametric sketch constraints I have in fusion 360, equal, parallel, circle tangents, etc, combined with distance, and preserved when you rotate something, for example.

First and foremost, I love Inkscape and Love the community around it. The Inkscape Tablet bug has been tough. Connecting and starting your tablet before launching Inkscape would crash straight away.

I absolutely appreciate you making these videos!

I fondly recall the first Inkscape release, which brought immense joy to me and many others. At the time, it was the only viable option for editing 2D vectors on Linux. Kudos to the Inkscape team for their remarkable progress over the years!

Appreciate the works. Hope inkscape gets better UI solutions for low rez displays.

You are all great fellows! It's so nice to find some videos where professional illustrators praise Inkscape. By the way, if you disable the statusbar in Inkscape on Windows, then Inkscape works faster. I do not know what this is related to, but it really saves me on Windows. But everything is fine in Linux.

It's kinda crazy how fast and overpowered Inkscape development is, compared to other open source graphic design projects. Really looking forward to 1.4, can't wait to experience Inkscape in GTK4!

The ability of the shape builder tool in 1.4beta to handle raster is a game changer. Also, the new snapping ability to always snap to grid would greatly improve my workflow.

However, as a Windows user, GTK file open/save dialog is dead on arrival for me. I prefer the native. The GTK open/save will not open folder links. Nor will it allow basic Window's 11 file management tasks such as renaming or deleting. It only displays generic file icons. Nor will it preview raster files (JPG, PNG).

Ive been reaching for Inkscape far more often than illustrator for a couple years now. If I’m doing SVG for the web I use Inkscape exclusively.

I use Anaconda and that seems to help smooth python issues and eliminated crashing for me. I’m not a coder and don’t know if this helps at all.

Since I use Inkscape mostly for laser cutting and engraving, I would love to see some more features geared towards that. One for certain, the ability to Export in Dxf format. I have used the finger joint box generator, though it would be nicer if it did each section individually, instead of using the same line. When cutting apart and it is all connected together, it makes for a sloppy fit.
