Great stuff. What a shame that the strip is no longer in use! It still takes my breath away!

Still a better landing than I can do. I don't know the first thing about flying, but I love this game. I can takeoff! Lol

Did have have the correct Qn H set? Good attempt - keep slightly left of approach light on way up to checkerboard.

@silencecom its the radar altimeter because of the mountains below you or the one in front of you the gpws which uses sonar waves to track altimeter so when you passed over or got close to the mountain the gpws picked it up . it means you are 2500 ft. over the mountains below you, now 2500 ft above sea level

Runway is 20ft above sea level. If you check your flight plan and flight data management on Kai Tak they should tell you the runway elevation above sea level.

@silencecom the reason the call out states "20" at touch down is for the reason that after you have gone that low there is no going back, thus as in the "real world", the aircraft/PNF does not call out less than that, or they might go to "15"

In relation to the 20ft.. FSX has a bug with default Radio Altimetre when on ground it does not show -8ft like it's meant to (indicates on ground) it always shows a minimum of +10ft,
o when you land and nose is high you get reading like this, as nose when flared can be 5-10feet above the plane centreline.

The GPWS you have installed is probably for a smaller plane, And Because the 747 Is So High up, It thinks the plane hasn't touched down, when it really has. You can fix it by editing the file that your GPWS came with, Assuming its not default

Wow all these great add-ons but not a decent plane. Great vid tho.
About the 20ft touchdown press your altimeter reset button "B" before landing should fix it.

landing at 20 ft often happen with the default 747, i think its just because the cabin is higher and its glitchy, or your altimeter wasnt set correctly ?

Okay, this may be obvious, but i'm guessing that the ils will guide down to kai tak, but you'll have to land the plane yourself just before the turn, right?

@michael747400 That has nothing to do with it... the call outs are based on a system called GPWS which is a Radio Altimeter. The system (in real life) sends a signal from an antenna at the bottom of the plane and receives the bounce back of those same waves off the ground to determine an exact distance.

Hello! Really nice video and landing.

I have a question about the blue VC. What is a .bgl file? And what do I put the downloaded files in? I'm really confused with the readme directions. Thanks!
