I played outside til the street lights came on, sneaked to talk on the house phone, & watched TV til I fell asleep. 🤷‍♀️

We were tired from actually being outside working, playing at the park with family & friends, going on outings & actually talking face to face with each other with no distractions. So when we got home all we wanted to do was sleep. 💯👍's.. from my experience...I was born in 1986..sooo.

after doing dishes, cleaning my room, taking out the trash, finishing homework, & playing a few video games, I was too tired to think of doing anything else cause during the week, I had school the next morning!

After chores, homework, playing, riding bikes abd bathing, I watched Sister, Sister, Martin, In The House or something until I fell asleep. We were active af in the 90s/00s as kids.

We read books under the covers with a flashlight. Or played the radio or a cassette tape. Or snuck out of our rooms and watched TV until we were actually tired.

I’m 62, born in 1961. But by the 1990s, most people had a TV in every room. So you just watched TV until you fell asleep. My aunt (born 1932) said that back in her day, there weren’t as many street lights as we have now. So it was very dark outside at night. Electric lights were only used sporadically since sometimes not all rooms in a house had electricity. Her grandmother (born in the 1800s) basically was used to going to bed at nightfall and rising just before sunrise to pray. Back in that lady’s time, home lighting was with gasoliers that hung from ceilings or via candlelight. That’s how the old folks were before electricity, phones, TV, etc. They simply went to bed. Imagine that.

Here's a crazy thought for those of us who were teenagers in the For teens today, the 90s are to them what the 60s were to us lol. Jodeci is their Temptations lol

Back in the 90s I did my chores, read a book before I went to sleep. As a child of the early '00s it's very easy for me to function and entertain myself without the internet.

I would look at the plastic glow in the dark stars on my ceiling. Every once in a while one would fall on my face for a little excitement

I was born in 83...most of my childhood was in the 90's. We enjoyed life the way that it was...like any other era. We watched sitcoms, sports, music videos, listened to the radio, played video games, read the newspaper and even rented movies from Blockbuster. If you had basic cable, a VCR w/VHS tapes, and a radio life was good!! 😂Also.... and most importantly...we interacted with each other way more than now. We had distractions but not nearly as much as today.

We met up with our friends (large groups of us), rode our bikes, raced in the street, played double dutch, skate, listened to the radio, video games and worked little summer jobs for candy money and snacks while walking through our neighborhood with our friends, and water fights. We did all that, but you better be in the house when those street lights came on, or with at least two other people (for safety reasons).

I would listen to my walkman n write down song lyrics, lay halfway out my room upper body in the hall to read cause my little sisters were asleep in the room, write snail mail to cousins...life was the jam back then.

I had insomnia as a youth, (still do) so I just looked at the shadows on the wall, held a stuffed animal, and listened to my mom play the piano or the flute. She thought she was bugging me, but the only thing that offended me was the light that shined in my eyes. She insisted we kept our door open because children can't be trusted lol. When I was 11, I got a small boom box/radio player for my birthday or Christmas, so I would listen to that. I had CDs and cassettes. My collection wasn't impressive, but it was enough. I listened to Brandy on repeat. I had Mariah and Britney as well. I also listen to KROQ. The Love Line was one of my favorite things. I learned so much. I've basically always needed music or some sort of talking to help me silence my anxiety, so I can sleep.

As a matter of fact I slept so much better in the 90s.
Now, I fall asleep with the phone in my damn hand.😂🥴🥴

I used to listen to the quiet storm. I grew up on 90s RnB (born '92). I can still hear "Keeping it soft and warm with the quiet storm, on V-103..." lol I'd be out like a light.

We listened to the radio, tapes or cds, watched tv, or talked to our siblings, cousins or whoever was sharing the room that night, until we went to sleep. Those were great times!

I would listen to my radio until I fell asleep. Especially after either talking on the phone after school or going outside, shoot or BOTH. Man do I miss the 90s.

My sister and I had bunk beds and we just discussed how we used to freestyle rap at bedtime. We never “went to bed, ” we’d just eventually fall asleep 😅😂😂😂 🤷🏾‍♀️
