it’s honestly pretty annoying when people compliment an artist as if they were born knowing how to draw. it doesn’t come naturally to *anyone*. some may learn faster than others, but saying ‘i can’t even draw ____’ or ‘you have superpowers’, etc. totally diminishes the fact that they ever had to put in hours at a time to practice to get to where they are. that’s like saying, “oh, you’re a CEO? I wish I was that lucky” like it’s an unearned blessing instead of tedious and constant work. if you stop drawing for awhile and go back to it, you’re nearly where you started again, too. it’s okay if it’s just not something you’re willing to work at it as hard as this person does, but don’t diminish it like they’re lucky to have something you don’t when you just won’t put the time in. it’s the same as every single other skill in existence, you only get better with practice, it’s not luck.
