He is a staff writer and reporter at Deseret News, with a focus on faith, family, and peacemaking across sociopolitical disagreements. Jacob lives in rural Utah with his wife and five children.

Carrie L. Skarda, PsyD, is a psychologist in private practice in Salt Lake City, Utah, specializing in supporting Latter-day Saint women who are seeking to improve themselves and their relationships. She has been studying and practicing mindfulness and formal meditation for over fifteen years. Carrie lives in an old house in Salt Lake City with her husband and two children.

Experiencing unanticipated pain can be completely exhausting and overwhelming, yet God is always with us and ready to help us get through it if we can consciously, deliberately turn to him for the understanding we need to grow beyond the pain. Thank you for sharing this.
