Investments in biotechnology have been rapidly gaining momentum in Hong Kong, particularly as the Covid-19 pandemic draws attention to new innovations in health care. In just three years, the city has become Asia’s largest biotech fundraising hub and the second-largest globally, thanks to listing reforms implemented by HKEX and proximity to the world’s second-largest health care industry in mainland China . Nicolas Aguzin, chief executive officer of HKEX, and Li Bin, founder and chief investment officer of health care-focused asset management firm Lake Bleu Capital, explain more about the factors behind Hong Kong’s vital role in the biotech growth story.

Nothing here on the local biotech talent, promising sub-sectors where HK may enjoy particular comparative advantages, specific research achievements or product innovation .... only talking head exit strategists and people looking to cash in on others' lifelong work in the field. I have nothing against them -- they have their role to play -- but this is just a plug for the HKEX.
