The Jackal's Gaze is one of the four items you need to complete the set, it's the same one shown in the pre-launch Ubisoft stream. So for everyone who has already unlocked it from that side quest in Sais, I guess we're already halfway there to getting the Anubis outfit

The quest reward is the sword, Conductor of Souls. The 'gear set item' is an error that we are currently investigating.

Run around him in a circle and fire your arrows, dodge the hyenas, fire your arrows, kill the adds, fire your arrows in a circle again, rinse repeat and he dies. Also, I received the sword but did not get the quest item

According to the Ubisoft twitter the quest item is the sword and the other thing you may get is a bug

So the sword is the quest item, confirmed on twitter by the official Assassin's creed account, the "Anubis gear set item" is a bug that they are looking into. The outfit is granted once you obtain all 4 weapons from all the bosses.

The blank quest item is a bug, it doesn't actually exist. The exclusive outfit is unlocked by collecting the four legendary god weapons... Anubis gives you one of them, the next boss will give you the second one, and so on... I don't know why people complain about how hard the event is, I was two levels under the recommended and I beat it twice with little effort. Just use a good sword and shield, a decent rapid-fire bow, and get good at dodging hell hounds.

I just got this game a couple weeks ago. I thought the gods were going to be gone for good if I didnt beat them in a week. So I grinded my ass off. If I had known they would come back I wouldnt have grinded so much.

when the hyenas are coming shoot them or run just around anubis but do not look at him, look there where you are heading to otherwise you are to slow to outrun the hyenas.
It is also helpful to use weapons with the ability of healing by killing. For the bow I suggest you use a light bow. I defeted him with not losing any health and that on the second try so i consider Anubis as a really easy boss compared to the war elephants:)

Its so bullshit that this is a lvl 40 timed event. I am low level and got 1/3 of his hp down, then he spawned level 40 enemies, which hit me once after 5 minutes.... I died...

I will not get the outfit, since it is impossible for me to reach that in 6 days.

They should either make levels non existent for these bosses or remove the timer...

I think it was difficult to fight him for you because you were using a warrior bow at long distance without even charging it. I've beaten him like 5 times just today purely because I love boss fights and it's easy XP and drachmas.

every time I beat the boss, the quest just resets. It does not reward me with the quest item.
