A card for the gamers who aren't concerned with 4k gaming. 1080p and 1440p giving you over 100 fps. You can also turn on Ray Tracing when using DLSS!!

Thanks Newegg and ASUS for the Card!

The board partners must be crapping themselves due to nobody buying their overpriced cards. I wonder how long it will take for another EVGA to happen.

Unless its $100+ cheaper it has not fixed the problem.

Wendell, you need to check your studio audio chain, mate. The crackling noises from the past videos are gone but now there's a clear EM interference around the 300-400Hz.

I have found the RTX 4070 is really good for 3D rendering in programs like Brice, Daz studio, and the IRAY render engine, (it also rendered really fast on 3D Studio Max, but i only had an upgrade trial copy because my licensed copy of 3DS Max is a decade old and is only used for modeling). My personal benchmark was of a scene I created specifically to punish the GPU's. I rendered the same scene in Daz Studio using the IRAY engine at 4k resolution with 4k textures on every object set for a total of 3500 iterations. My result for the 3 cards i have were the NVIDIA 2070 Super render time 6 hours and 43 min. The RTX 3070 was 3 hours and 22 min, and the RTX 4070 cut it down to 44 min total!!! (I was shocked as to how fast the 4070 rendered the scene) I made no changes to the file before rendering, so all three cards were rendering the exact scene with zero changes. I know this was not a formal bench test, but i thought I would share the results for the 3D modelers out there since most card reviews focus on games vs 3D programs. Hope the info helps.

Whether the card is "capable" isn't the real question here. It's all about the cost, and at their asking price, they can pound sand. I'll keep using my RX 6600 until something that's actually worth the price comes along.

I upgraded from a GTX1070, my 4070 came with Diablo4 as promo, which was a 70 EUR value. The biggest party piece is its efficiency tho. I undervolted to 925mV, which runs the card at 140W without any performance penalty. I added an 1 GHz overclock to the ram for a little uplift. I'll save like 40-50 EUR a year in energy cost, so after 4-5 years it ends up being a 400 EUR GPU, hehe and yes, that 599 price really sucks and I'm doing mental backflips to rationalize the purchase :') very nice GPU and architecture tho

The best 4070 is still just a 4070 and thus overpriced or underperforming or a bit of both.

I noticed the issue you mentioned with CP2077, I was all over the forums and the reddits and saw recommends to set a frame cap in the game menu to ~10-15 fps lower than you expect to average. (noting that with frame gen on, you have to halve the fps number). I was getting ~95fps with my settings and frame gen, so I set it to cap at 40, which doubles to 80fps, and it solved the issue pretty much completely.
Yes, it's still more or a work-around than a solution, and you can't do that for benching.. but for playing.. It Worked for me!

I actually went the other route with a 4070 and undervolted it. Roughly 3080 performance @ an average of 125 watts is pretty nice in a stuffy office in summer. Frame generation has been pretty impressive in most of the games I've tried it in but I still think DLSS is the real killer app. Still sucks to pay the inflated asking price and while I'm curious what AMD can pull off with FSR3, I've been a bit disappointed with RDNA3 so far. RDNA2 was fantastically efficient at every tier (save for the 6950XT) but I went with a 7900XTX first and just could not get it to undervolt worth a damn and that 400+ watts of waste heat pumping into my office was most unpleasant.

I bought an asus 4070 dual oc, which has an unbearable amount "coil whine". Our cats are literally attacking the pc because of its intensity it's insane. I am trying to give it back at the moment. I hope it works and I can buy a better one without that scrappy sound.

I'm on a RTX 2070 non super "faster" revision, will be waiting for the RX 7700's or 7800' to see where prices settle out. The software doesn't justify the the $ cost for minimal hardware improvement for the 30 to 40 gen. Still on the fence about getting a 30 series or a 6900X though too. Should also state im on a 3440x1440 100hz monitor.

Just bought my son the Asus 4070 TUF OC, it’s a beautiful card and very powerful and runs cool. He had the Palit GamerPro 3070 (Put that in my daughters PC now) which would get about 130fps in Forza at 1440p with nearly all Ultra settings, now with the 4070 it pretty much stays at 165fps so a good upgrade. The price is the only downer with this card. Oh and one other thing, it’s a whopper!

My response when I saw the title; which of the huge plethora of problems with nvidia, rtx40, pricing, asus and customer care, etc, etc is the problem that got fixed here?

The big downside of this for me is that it's a 3 slot card. Part of the appeal of the 4070 FE, at least to me, is that it's a 2 slot card.

I have a 3080 so a 4070 would be a complete waste of money, but if I was buying a 4070 I'd want the 2 slot version. I actually want to use some of my other PCIe slots.

EDIT: Wait 5:58 it's a *_FOUR_* slot card?! Heck no to that.
(a "three and a half" slot card is a four slot card. there's no half slot cards I can use in the rest of the space, so it's a four slot card. these manufacturers are stupid with this decimal slot crap)

I got a 4070 a couple weeks ago to upgrade from a 3060Ti. I play on 4K and get 90+ fps on most games. Diablo 3 and 4, Apex Legends, etc. I keep hearing people say the card is a beast for 1080/1440, but it’s honestly a great card for entry 4K gaming as well!

It is highly reccomended to never use frame gen, without DLSS3 unless the native gameplay is over 60, or if the game is not sensitive to input latency(such as top down RTS or turn based) as frame generation increases latency enough that it can be felt if the native refesh rate is below 60.
Now what i am looking forward to are games that can de-couple the input refresh, from screen refresh, and at that point it is fair game to use frame gen at any time, only getting 24FPS natively? Go ahead and turn frame gen on for a smoother 50hz video output, because inputs are being processed at 120hz no matter the frame rate, doesnt matter if the engine to screen rendered latency is now closer to 20hz because it doesnt affect input polling/processing

This review is awesome, I'm buying the OC variant of this card on boxing day as I can't find the non-OC variant locally.
