George Lazenby, who played British super spy James Bond in the 1969 EON Productions film ON HER MAJESTY’S SECRET SERVICE, will return this spring to the places where filming took place fifty years ago. Lazenby, who will turn 80 later this year, is joined by many cast and crew members. Their appearance is part of a 9 day international fan event that will take place in Estoril, Portugal (25‐26 May) and Mürren, Switzerland (1‐2 June). The fan event is organised by ON THE TRACKS OF 007. COM
The nine day international event will bring hundreds of James Bond fans from all over the world to the two countries where their favourite Bond film was made: Portugal and Switzerland. ON HER MAJESTY’S SECRET SERVICE was released in 1969 and is nowadays often mentioned as ‘the best James Bond film ever’. From May 25 to June 2 this year, a selection of cast and crew will return to the iconic filming locations to join the celebration. LAZENBY (79), the former Australian model who replaced Sean Connery as James Bond, is among them and he is looking very much forward to his return.

OHMSS50 is a non‐profit event, organised by fans for fans. The organisation is in the hands of ONTHETRACKSOF007.COM , the longest running James Bond related website on the internet (online since 1995). The event is sponsored and co‐organised by SCHILTHORNBAHN AG in Mürren, Switzerland and the PALÁCIO HOTEL & SPA in Estoril, Portugal, and is supported by the French, Swiss and German James Bond fan clubs.

On Her Majesty's Secret Service is a 1969 British spy film and the sixth in the James Bond series produced by Eon Productions. It is based on the 1963 novel of the same name by Ian Fleming. Following Sean Connery's decision to retire from the role after You Only Live Twice, Eon Productions selected an unknown actor and model, George Lazenby, to play the part of James Bond. During the making of the film, Lazenby announced that he would play the role of Bond only once.

In the film, Bond faces Blofeld (Telly Savalas), who is planning to hold the world ransom by the threat of sterilising the world's food supply through a group of brainwashed "angels of death". Along the way Bond meets, falls in love with, and eventually marries Contessa Teresa di Vicenzo (Diana Rigg).

It is the only Bond film to have been directed by Peter R. Hunt, who had served as a film editor and second unit director on previous films in the series. Hunt, along with producers Albert R. Broccoli and Harry Saltzman, decided to produce a more realistic film that would follow the novel closely. It was shot in Switzerland, England, and Portugal from October 1968 to May 1969. Although its cinema release was not as lucrative as its predecessor You Only Live Twice, On Her Majesty's Secret Service was still one of the top performing films of the year. Critical reviews upon release were mixed, but the film's reputation has improved greatly over time.

George Robert Lazenby is an Australian actor and former model. He is best known for having played Ian Fleming's fictional British secret agent James Bond in the film On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969). At age 29, he was the youngest actor to have portrayed Bond. Lazenby is also the only Bond actor to receive a nomination for the Golden Globe Award for New Star of the Year – Actor.

Prior to his portrayal as Bond, Lazenby was a model and appeared in advertising. After declining to do another Bond film, Lazenby continued to act in Italy, Hong Kong, Australia, and Hollywood. His career stalled in the 1970s and he moved into business and invested in real estate. He later appeared in several films and television series, including roles which parody the James Bond character. In 2017, a Hulu docudrama film, Becoming Bond, featured Lazenby recounting his life story and portrayal as Bond.

ABOUT THE FILMING LOCATIONS
All of the film’s iconic locations still exist today, in both countries. In Portugal Guincho Beach, the Palácio Hotel in Estoril, a Lisbon jeweller, the garden of the Palacio dos Marqueses de Fronteira, the Arrábida National Park and the private estate Herdade do Zambujal are all frequently visited by 007 fans from around the globe. This also applies to the the Swiss locations: Bern, Heiligenschwendi, Lauterbrunnen, Grindelwald and Mürren. High above Mürren, on the top of the Schilthorn, Piz Gloria is the ultimate Bond spot, welcoming fans of the franchise to their Bond World exhibition and Walk of Fame, where cast and crew members left their handprints.
