Daimler Trucks presents the truck of the future -- the self-driving Mercedes-Benz Future Truck 2025

"The truck of the future is a Mercedes-Benz that drives itself." Dr. Wolfgang Bernhard, the member of Daimler's Board of Management responsible for Daimler Trucks and Buses, came straight to the point in his description of the Mercedes-Benz Future Truck 2025, which had its world premiere. The truck is equipped with the extremely intelligent Highway Pilot assistance system, which enables it to drive completely autonomously at speeds of up to 85 km/h. Daimler Trucks demonstrated the vehicle on a trip along a section of the A14 autobahn near the city of Magdeburg, in which the Future Truck drove itself in completely realistic driving situations.

Der Truck verfügt über das hochintelligente Assistenzsystem „Highway Pilot" und kann damit bei Autobahn-Geschwindigkeiten bis zu 85 km/h komplett selbstständig („autonom") fahren. Auf einem Teilabschnitt der Autobahn A14 in der Nähe von Magdeburg lieferte Daimler Trucks den entsprechenden Beweis und zeigte den Future Truck im Einsatz bei vollkommen realistischen Fahrsituationen.

This is crazy
1. truckers don't make a lot of money are pay rate has be the same for 20 yes at least (30, 000- 45, 000) to make anymore you have to be an owner operator.
2. If there's a malfunction or glitch how long would it take for a driver to regain control. (going 60 mph it takes over 300 yards to stop)
3. If you think for one second that companies won't dramatically lower pay if this is put on the road you need to remember what country you live in.
That just 3 points without even thinking to deep. truckers if their going to take are career they need to train us for different jobs. Hell with they pay and hours we work its nearly impossible to do it and work safely. TRUST ME IM TRYING TO DO IT KNOW

it was the worst premier video i have ever seen. we saw the inside for 20 seconds and the other just outside and the road and people and everything.

maybe this is how it should have done but i dont like it.

An unmanned truck? Rolling time bomb. What if a fancy sensor goes wrong? I don't see this happening at least not on American roads. Worst idea ever.
