It seems that Trump's musings about running for a third term as President may be more genuine than you might assume, with some even coming up with ways to circumvent the Constitution. So in this video, we'll explain how this dramatic move might happen.

Ah yes the "its legal because no one will stop me" defence.

As always the onion article “Trump claims he can overrule constitution with executive order because of little-known ‘no one will stop me’ loophole” seems fitting here

Legally: no. Full stop.

Actuality: Trump doesn't give a single fuck about any laws especially those designed to prevent despots.

This has literally nothing to do with whether or not it's legal, and 100% on whether or not people will actually stop him. Since half the eligible voters in the US can't even be arsed to show up for an election, I have little hope.

Trump doesn't joke and Trump does not "bait the media". So the saying goes, "many a true word spoken in jest". His base claim he is joking when what he is actually doing is seeding the ideas into the media to normalize the ideas in people's heads. So when they happen they are less surprising, they have already been talked through and do not shock people as much. What Trump says "in jest" he fully intends on carrying out if he can possibly get away with it.

The fact that this even has to be discussed is insane, btw. Let's not forget about that.

Wait, you think he's going with LEGAL methods?

Ban guns - 'You can't do that it's in the constitution'
Third term - 'The constitution isn't legally binding'

There was a time when a President merely joking about a third term would’ve caused an uproar. How far we’ve fallen.

I wish people in the media and his voters would stop dismissing Trump's statements. If he says he's going to do something, if he implies he's going to do something, then treat it like a serious statement. He said he was going to do tariffs, he did them, and they're a disaster. Take him as he is, not what you think he is.

He’ll definitely go for it with a simple rhetorical strategy : suggest the idea -> make it spread -> people choose sides and debate about it -> get enough people on board with it -> claim legitimacy from the popular will to actually implement the idea.

And we all know how it goes for Americans.

This reminds me of Putin. A pause as VP to consolidate enough power for a constitutional change..

Remember when people called him a fascist and the other side said we were overreacting? He doesn't joke. Not about Greenland, annexing Canada, putting tariffs on everyone, nor running for a third term.

It was the Repubs who made the 2 term thing concrete...because FDR kept handing them their ahh on a silver plater. Dont expect a policy bourn out of opportunism to be upheld today.

The fact that this is even a matter of discussion is ridiculous

If he does I hope American people can stop being cowards like they were for the past close to 30 years when their rights were stealthily dismantled and rebel

Interested to see the plot of Civil War play out in real life.

You missed a 4th possibility... starting a war and being president under Martial law...which could last a long time (as long as the war that you started).
